THE Limerick minor footballers will take on Clare in  round two of the Munster Minor Football Championship round robin series at Ballyagran tonight, Tuesday, at 6.15pm.

Limerick, who have confirmed their starting line-up for tonight's second round fixture against the Banner, suffered a 2-13 to 0-10 defeat to Tipperary in their opening group fixture in Fethard a week ago.

As a result, Gerard O'Connor's Limerick side are currently bottom of the Munster MFC phase one table with a score difference of -9. Tipperary sit at the top of the table on two points (+9), Clare are in second place (+1) and Waterford are in third place (-1).

A win against Clare is crucial for Limerick and would put them in a strong position to qualify ahead of their final group game against Waterford at Lemybrien on Tuesday, April 16.

After round three, the top two in phase one of competition will join Cork and Kerry in the Munster MFC semi-finals.

Limerick had trailed Tipperary by a single point at half-time in their opening fixture, 0-7 to 1-5. 1-05 - 0-07 at the break. In the second half, however, the Shannonsiders were outscored 1-8 to 0-3.

Clare struck for a dramatic last gasp goal against Waterford in their opening game to win by a point, 1-11 to 0-13.
