Treaty Utd academy to host challenge game against Republic of Ireland U15 girls school’s team

The Republic of Ireland U15 school girls squad featuring three Limerick players

TREATY Utd's U17 Carelon academy will host an exciting challenge game against the Republic of Ireland under 15 girls school’s team this Sunday, January 28, with kick-off at 2pm at the Markets Field.

The match will be used as an occasion for the club to display some of the top up and coming players in the country in the women’s game. The Republic of Ireland manager, Richard Berkeley will have a 22-person squad available to him to play Treaty United’s U17 girls academy squad, managed by Marie O’Meara (Curtin).

One of the most exciting talents in underage soccer, Madison McGuane, recently signed for the Carelon academy, but will feature on the Republic of Ireland team on this occasion.

In November 2023, the Treaty United U17 girls team won the National Shield Final V Cork City FC with a dramatic 94th minute winner by Laura Falvey, and the team has retained 16 squad players from last year along with a couple of exciting additions to this year’s squad.

The Republic of Ireland U15 girls school squad will have a training camp in Limerick ahead of the game in Markets Field. This will be the first competitive friendly for the extended squad and should prove important as Richard Berkeley attempts to trim the squad to 18 in advance of the SAFIB Bob Docherty Cup which will take place from March 24 to 28 (Easter Break).

Sunday’s game will see Berkeley and his staff  play two different 11s in either half to access the quality of football against some strong opposition.

The Schools select have several assessments scheduled for next month with a friendly pencilled in against Northern Ireland in early March. Berkeley will name his final squad ahead of that fixture.
