THE Charles Byrnes-trained Rhythm And Thyne was the very well supported winner of the second division of the 10-furlong handicap at Dundalk on Wednesday afternoon of last week.

Ridden by Adam Caffrey, the 9/4 favourite led inside the final furlong to beat Michael Smith’s 22/1 chance Nawraq by half a length in the colours of owner Anna Rowney.

Ballingarry jockey Billy Lee rounded off a huge week for trainers Michael Halford & Tracey Collins when partnering Limestone Red to win the concluding 10-furlong handicap for three-year-olds at Dundalk on Friday.

A second winner for the training partnership on the night, adding to the treble they enjoyed at the track two days previously, the 5/1 chance, owned by Caroline Hendron, relished the step up in trip and came home a length to the good over the John McConnell-trained Hasten Slowly.

Denis O'Regan announces his retirement

Denis O’Regan called time on his career at Navan on Saturday. Earlier this month, the 41-year-old made history by becoming the only jockey to ride a winner at every active jumps’ track in Ireland and Britain, ticking the final box at Hereford.

The Youghal jockey notched up 800 career winners last year and his tally seven Grade 1 winners, four Cheltenham Festival successes and a memorable Galway Plate success on Ansar, trained by Dermot Weld in 2005. O’Regan also rode a winner at Warrnambool in Australia.

He began his career as an amateur rider and rode his first winner on All Honey, for the late Francis Flood, in a bumper at Listowel in April, 2001. He turned professional in September, 2003.
