The Limerick Cricket Club First XI that beat Kerry last weekend.
AFTER A testing couple of weeks for the club as a whole, Limerick Cricket Club's first XI put a bit of respectability on the situation with a Premier League win over Kerry.
The firsts were pushing for a third placed finish and earned a six wicket victory against their Munster rivals in a game that was reduced to 40 overs due to inclement weather.
Limerick lost the toss and were put into the field. Despite a slow start, the bowlers came to the fore with Mirhamza Ahmedzai notching figures of 4-35 and Syed Asif Hussein landing 4-30. That gave the the batting order a total of 121 to chase.
The run chase was Limerick were professional in the run chase with openers Yogesh Borghare and Sourabh Teke setting some very solid foundations.
Kerry struck for their first wicket with Limerick already on 66 runs in the 12th over. That ushered in a mini-collapse but 24 from Arslan Anwar and the same total from Sarfraz Ramay saw Limerick home to victory.

Limerick opted to bat having won the toss but were in trouble early doors at 37-4. Dharmesh Patel steadied the ship with a captain's innings but wickets continued to fall at the other end.
Patel was eventually out with his side on 103-8 but a final wicket partnership of 59 by Afg hanis Waqas Shinwari and Shaoib Zazai helped Limerick to a 163 total.
The Blasters made a solid start but Sathya Prabhu's stunning bowling performance was to turn the game in Limerick's favour. The swing bowler came up with figures of 6-40 to restrict the Blasters to a total of 99. It was Prabhu's first six-wicket haul for the club.

Limerick’s next senior tie will be a mouth-watering Senior Cup quarter-final clash against Midleton on September 10. Both the 1st and 2nd XIs will take respective breaks next weekend.
However, Limerick’s 3rd and 4th teams will return to action as they look to finish their season on high notes. The 4ths will make the long trip to Waterford on Saturday whilst Limerick’s 3rd XI will face the Limerick Blasters at the Manor Fields, Adare on Sunday afternoon.
Finally, the U15s face off against Cork County on Sunday in the U15 Superleague which will be a 30-over contest taking place in the Mardyke from 11am.
