Munster Rugby learn details of Champions Cup pool fixtures

Munster Rugby face Bayonne in their opening Champions Cup pool fixture at Thomond Park on December 9

COMPETITION organisers EPCR have confirmed the Champions Cup Pool fixtures for the 2023/24 season with Munster Rugby to host Bayonne and Northampton Saints at Thomond Park with away games against former winners Toulon and Exeter Chiefs in Pool 3.

Both home games at Thomond Park will be 5.30pm Saturday evening kick-offs.

Munster's campaign will kick-off with a first-ever meeting against Bayonne (Aviron Bayonnais) at Thomond Park on Saturday, December 9 (5.30pm).

Munster travel to Devon the following weekend for a clash against 2020 champions Exeter Chiefs on Sunday, December 17, with a 1pm kick-off.

Munster will face three-time winners Toulon at Stade Félix Mayol on Saturday, January 13, at 4.15pm local time/3.15pm Irish time. It will be Munster’s first visit to the venue since January 2011 when Toulon won 32-16 to knock Munster out of the competition at the Pool stage.

Munster's final Pool 3 game will be at Thomond Park against Northampton Saints on Saturday, January 20, at 5.30pm.

The four highest-ranked clubs from each of the pools will qualify for the knockout stage.

EPCR Chairman, Dominic McKay, said: "We are delighted to announce the details of EPCR’s 2023/24 tournament pool stage fixtures five months before the tournaments get under way again in December.

"This has been a collaborative process and we thank the clubs, leagues and our broadcast partners for their assistance in finalising the schedule in such a short period of time. We know the fans will be hugely excited about the fixtures and they are now able to plan their weekends well in advance. There are some intriguing clashes in the pool stages with world-class rugby for all to see."
