Shannon Rowing Club members enjoy hugely successful spell on the water

Shannon Rowing Club has been enjoying a very successful spell on the water at regattas up and down the country

SHANNON Rowing Club (SRC) members have been busy on the water, travelling up and down the country to several regattas.

First up in May was Lough Rynn Regatta in Co Leitrim where SRC members picked up the win in the Women’s J18 2x category against numerous strong crews.

Lee Regatta on the marina in Cork city was next up for the Sahnnon rowers and the event saw the club grab 10 wins and many close second places.

A great day in Castleconnell was had the weekend after, where Shannon RC had 40 crews out from Junior 13 to Masters (rowers over 27-years-old) gathering 16 wins on the day.

This was a fantastic series of resultsfor Shannon, particularly as some of their juniors only started rowing in September.

Last regatta of the month for Shannon saw the senior and master crews venture to Dublin Metropolitan Regatta where their Senior Women’s 4- picked up a gold medal win.

Their season hasn't over yet. Shannon RCs Senior crews travelled to England where their Senior men raced at London Metropolitan Regatta over the June Bank Holiday held on the London 2012 Olympic Course.

Their Senior Women will take on the iconic Henley Womens Regatta this month. For those at home, Galway and Fermoy Regattas await. Finally, the Irish National Championships will be held at the National Rowing Centre in July to round out the season before some club members take off for international duties.

If you would like to get involved with SRC, the club will be hosting Rowing Ireland Camps for new juniors (age 12+) in July. Details available on https://www.getgoinggetrowing. com/limerick-summer-rowing- camps-2023/
