FOLLOWING the drama of last weekend’s FAI Junior Cup action, which saw Limerick’s representation reduced to one in the last eight, it is the turn of the Munster Junior Cup to grab the attention this weekend with the LDL’s five remaining sides in action.

Ballynanty recorded a super 1-0 win away to Old County last weekend and will come into their tie on a high when they travel to fellow LDL side Charleville on Saturday evening.

Ballynanty Rvs are in superb form and will go into the game as favourites, but they are clever enough to not let that lull them into a false sense of security.

Adam Castle’s Charleville have also been in good form and lead the way in the bottom six of the Premier League.

With a big home crowd, they will make life difficult for their visitors but may find it a big hurdle to get past them.

Regional Utd have the unenviable task of hosting FAI Junior Cup holders Villa FC to Dooradoyle.

The Waterford side lead the way in their Premier league and are unbeaten to date.

Regional were disappointed to exit the FAI to Newmarket last week and will be looking for an improved performance this time out.

They will need it if they hope to topple the National champions but as they have shown before, Regional are well capable of causing a surprise.

MFA holders Fairview Rangers suffered FAI heartbreak last weekend going down after extra time to Gorey Rangers. They need an immediate bounce back when they face a good Waterford Glass side in Waterford.

Crystal lie third in the Waterford Premier table and will be a formidable opponent. We all know the ability of Fairview Rgs and if they can bring their A game there is nothing to stop them retaining their crown.

Nenagh AFC are also on the road when they visit Avondale Utd. The Cork side are mid table in their Munster Senior League and while well capable, they should hold no fear for Nenagh AFC

Cillian Fitzpatrick’s side are playing a lovely brand of football with a young flowing side. They just need a little “street smartness” to turn these performances into wins in big games.

In the FAI Youth Cup, Aisling face a sticky task at College Corinthians while in the Munster Youth Cup Fairview Rgs are favoured with home advantage versus Blarney on Saturday evening.

In the Premier League Pike Rovers can open a huge seven-point gap from the chasing pack if they can beat Aisling Annacotty on Sunday morning.

A 3-0 win over Nenagh last weekend eased Pike four points clear in the title race and they will be determined to keep the run going.

Aisling stumbled to a 2-1 win at Star Rvs last weekend, but their new look side have been very good over the last few weeks. They will be keen to test that progress against Pike.

In the Premier League relegation battle, there are two games scheduled. Coonagh Utd take on a Mungret Reg side in desperate need for points. Likewise, Janesboro and Carew Park need the points which should make their game well worth a visit.

In the Lawson Cup there is one game scheduled with Geraldines hosting Athlunkard Villa while the Open Cup continues apace with Granville Rgs B hosting Lisnagry A, Prospect B welcome Corbally Utd and a potential thriller when Herbertstown A take on Croom Utd.

Newport can strengthen their grip on a promotion spot from the in the Premier A League if they pick up points from their home game with Moyross

The Division 1A title race continues with leaders Caherdavin Celtic at home to Southend and Summerville Rvs hosting Castle Rvs.
