Munster Rugby's RG Snyman
MUNSTER Rugby have confirmed an expected return to action date for their World Cup winner RG Snyman.
South African-born Snyman has made just four appearances in two-and-a-half seasons with Munster following two serious knee injuries. The 27-year-old sustained his initial injury on his debut with the province in August 2020 and was hit with a major setback in the third of three comeback games off the bench in October 2021.
However, the good news for the player himself, the Munster backroom team and supporters is that he is increasing his training load with a view to making his return in March.
Munster also confirmed on the injury front that Liam O’Connor and Chris Moore (both neck) will both begin rehabilitation periods after sustaining injuries over recent weeks in club matches.
Eoin O’Connor is also unavailable due to a shoulder injury.
The Munster squad are continuing preparations at the HPC ahead of Friday’s URC round 14 clash against Ospreys at Thomond Park (7.35pm).
Gavin Coombes, Keith Earls and Roman Salanoa have all been released back to the Munster squad from Ireland camp with no 6 Nations action this weekend.
Ben Healy also rejoins his Munster team-mates from Scotland camp.
Tadhg Beirne, Craig Casey, Dave Kilcoyne, Conor Murray and Peter O’Mahony all played their part in Ireland’s win over France on Saturday with Kilcoyne winning his 50th Ireland cap.
The IRFU have confirmed that Tadhg Beirne will see a specialist today (Monday) to determine the treatment plan for the leg injury he sustained in the match.
Casey, Kilcoyne, Murray, O’Mahony and Jack Crowley will all take part in a two-day mini camp at the IRFU HPC this week, where they will train with the Ireland U20s.
The Ireland U20s beat France at a sold-out Musgrave Park on Friday night. The matchday squad included Munster Academy duo Ruadhán Quinn (Old Crescent) and Evan O’Connell (UL Bohemians), Garryowen’s Brian Gleeson and UCC’s Jacob Sheahan and Danny Sheahan.
Unavailable: Jeremy Loughman (thigh), James French (leg), Tom Ahern (shoulder), Paddy Kelly (head), Eoin O’Connor (shoulder), Jack Daly (knee), Calvin Nash (chest), Andrew Conway (knee), Mike Haley (ankle).
