FAIRVIEW Rgs little blip before Christmas was put firmly behind them on Saturday evening when they breezed past Regional Utd with three goals to spare.
Parading new signings Shane Tracey and Blake Curran from Aisling and the exciting Cian McNamara from Charleville, the Blues keeps them apace with fellow leaders Pike Rvs.
The game proved uneventful for the opening twenty minutes but sprung into life when Darragh Rainsford gathered on the right, cut infield and let fly with a shot from 25 yards that beat Rob Shier in the home goal to open the scoring.
Regional were relying on set pieces to try and break down Fairview with a Kieran O’Connell effort the closest they came.
Just after the restart Fairview were reduced to ten players following a last man challenge by Jeffery Judge on Brian O’Connor but rather than spark the home side, it gave Fairview the impetus to up their game.
Midway through the half, an excellent pass by Rainsford picked out Conor Coughlan who turned his marker before being fouled in the area. From the resultant penalty kick, Steven Bradley doubled the View’s lead.
Jack Arra went within a whisker of adding an audacious 45 yard third but the visitors were not to be denied and with 15 minutes remaining Shane Duggan set up Cian McNamara for his first in the Fairview colours to complete and impressive debut.

Nenagh AFC 0 Pike Rovers 4
PIKE Rovers led Nenagh 3-1 before Christmas when the game was halted early necessitating a replay of the fixture.
The Hoops need not have worried as they brushed aside the Nenagh challenge to maintain their spot atop the Premier League with Fairview Rgs.
Three goals in the space of twenty minutes before half time put the game to bed and Pike comfortably saw out the game in the second half. Nenagh started brightly but the Pike back four provided ample protection for Gary Neville.
Pike went close when Shane Clarke intercepted an under hit back pass but was unable to chip it over the on-rushing keeper.
The breakthrough came from good play out the wing by Colm Walsh O’Loughlin who skipped past his marker and picked out Danny O’Neill who squared for Clarke to score with a great left footed finished into the top corner.
Walsh O’Loughlin was involved again for the second goal as he picked out Colin Daly who put Aaron Murphy through to round off a great team move.
It was 3-0 minutes later when quick thinking by Hanrahan, who spotted the keeper off his line, and hoisted a free kick to the net for a superb goal.
The tempo of the game slowed down thereafter but Pike still kept the home side at bay with solid defensive work.
Kevin Barry made an impact off the bench when he controlled O’Neill’s quick throw-in before rolling his marker and burying his shot into the bottom corner.
Pat Mullins’ experience yet again showed as he was in the right place every time to break up play while O’Neill and Hanrahan were a nuisance for Nenagh on the wings constantly creating chances and keeping their wide players quiet.

BALLYNANTY Rvs kept up their chase of the top two with a comfortable win over Coonagh at LIT on Sunday.
It took Balla twenty minutes to open the scoring. Thomas Byrnes shot was deflected into the path of Gbadebo Habideen who teed up Conor Keane to fire home from inside the box.
It was 2-0 two minutes later when James Fitzgerald threaded a ball through for Habideen to fire in his 13th of the season.
Conor Keane scored his second to make it 3-0 just before the break when he traded passes with Habideen before firing in from an acute angle.
Coonagh battle on gamely in the second half but were unable to break a resolute defence. Thomas O’Connor headed home powerfully in the final action of the game to complete the scoring.

Aisling Annacotty 5 Charleville 0
The top game in the Lawson Cup saw Aisling continue on from where they left off before Christmas, putting five goals past fellow Premier side Charleville without reply on Saturday evening in Annacotty.
Debut boy Ciaran Barry looked dangerous from early set pieces and was unlucky not to open the scoring from Aisling’s first corner but made amends minutes later finishing neatly at the back post to open the scoring.
Paul Brennan doubled the home side’s advantage when made it 2 with a near post header after having an earlier effort disallowed.
Charleville just could noy cope with man of the match Sean Ezekannagha who was superb on the night. At the start of the second half, he set up Mike Conlon who finished neatly into the roof of the net for number three before adding the fourth for a goal his performance deserved.
Colin Scanlon made it 5-0 from a wonderful blind pass by Tony Whitehead, the evergreen striker had a bit of work to do but rolled back the years and coolly slotted home.

Mungret turned in an impressive performance to record a 4-1 win over Janesboro in another all-Premier tie.
Cian McNicholas put the home side in front when he was first to Richie Burke’s cross score at the front post.
On the hour mark Three minutes later, Alex Mason equalised for Janesboro before to level the game at half time.
Mungret were back in front when Pa Aherne passed to McNicholas who squared for Aled Harkin to finish.
A superb run from 18-year-old Sean O’Sullivan down the left, ended with Pa Ahern heading in at the back post to make it 3-1.
McNicholas completed the scoring when he traded passes with Aherne before powering home from the edge of the box.

Elsewhere in the Lawson Cup Geraldines left in late before seeing off Meanus. Scoreless with ten minutes remaining, the Dines hit the jackpot with four goals courtesy of Adam Dore, Jeffery Dore, Dave Power and Adam O'Regan.
Pallas Utd withstood some fierce pressure at home to Moyross to bring the tie to penalties where the county side caused the shock of the day to progress.
Newport turned in a fine performance to see off Hyde Rgs in Hyde Park. Peter O'Sullivan had Newport in front at the break and second half scores from Jay Ryan (2) and Luke Ryan did the damage.
Darragh Reddan was on the mark for Corbally Utd but they exited the competition as Kilmallock hit three courtesy of Thomas Savage (2) and Shane Lyons.
Athlunkard Villa, by their own admission, were lucky to survive their clash with Parkville. Despite missing a penalty with minutes remaining, Paul Scales goal looked to be enough to cause an upset when an own goal in the dying minutes sent the game to penalties. Villa took full advantage of their reprieve to win the penalty shoot-out.
Summerville Rvs proved too strong for Northside. New signing Craig Collopy Duggan opened his account with a hat trick. Ciaran Cable, Jonathan McMahon, Steven Kiely, Shane Power and Craig Reddan made up the tally for the winners.
Nick Hayes and Adam Bourke scored in Knockainey’s 2-0 win at Castle Rvs while Caherdavin Celtic beat Patrickswell 3-1 thanks to scores from Cathal O'Connell, Cian O'Rahilly and Nick O'Connell.
Goals from Brian Quinn, Evan Walsh and Des Keehan saw Murroe narrowly past Abbey Rvs for whom Shane Bennis and Stuart Barry were on the mark.

Dean Hogan and Devlyn Price were on target for Southend but they fell to Lisnagry A who had scorers in Kristian Kezic (2), Tony Burns, Jason Keane, Dean Ryan and Adam Hourigan.
Niall O’Riordan scored which, along with a double from Noah Patterson helped Holycross to a 3-1 win over Brazuca while scores from Danny Colbert, Reece Kelly and Lee Madigan saw Prospect through with a 3-2 win at Granville.
Jamie McCarthy and Joe Lonergan scored for Cappamore Celtic in a 2-1 win over a gallant Dromore Celtic XI.
Caherconlish knocked out a fancied Ballylanders side in a tight affair. Mark Ryan scored twice with Paudie Wixted also netting for the winners.
In the Open Cup a double from Graham Power gave Newtown and excellent win (and bragging rights!) in a local derby with Aisling Annacotty D.
Dylan Murphy bagged a hat trick in a 5-0 win for Croom at Brazuca B. Conor Laffan and Adam Costello also netted.
In the Ger Ryan Cup, Kilfrush caused a huge shock toppling Aisling Annacotty A 3-2. Billy O'Keeffe, Evan O'Connor and James O'Sullivan scored for the winners, Cian Arthur struck twice for Aisling.
Fairview were made earn their passage to the next round after a 4-3 win over Holycross. Jake Leamy (2), Jamie Hannon and Adam Keating scored for the winners. Daniel Walker scored all three for ‘Cross.
Janesboro advanced thanks to a 3-0 win over Regional Utd. Sean Ryan, Calum O'Connell and Oran Flanagan were on the mark.
Dan Collins, Ronan Benson, Tom Guinnane and Sam Murray were on target for Shels in a 4-2 win over Geraldines for whom Jamie Murphy and Nathan Cross replied.
Granville emerged winners against Geraldines following a penalty shoot-out. Jac Gorey and Josh O’Grady traded goals in a -1 draw.
Jamie Kavanagh and Joe Shanahan scored for Newport in a 2-2 draw with Mungret Reg before the Tipperary side advanced on penalties.
