Leading law firm Sweeney McGann LLP celebrated an impressive triple win at this year’s Dye & Durham Irish Law Awards, securing regional awards for Munster Civil Litigation Team of the Year, Munster Employment Lawyer of the Year and winner of the Sports Lawyer of the Year title. The award wins came in a year where competition was stronger than ever, with more than 400 entries submitted by top legal talent across Ireland.

Following on from a double win at last year’s ceremony – with titles for Munster Employment Firm of the Year and Munster Property Firm of the Year – the awards were celebrated by the team at Sweeney McGann LLP at a glittering gala award ceremony in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium, hosted by Ivan Yates.
Based in the heart of Limerick City, at 67 O’Connell Street, and founded in 1995, the multi-award-winning regional practice has an established reputation as one of the most respected firms in the Mid-West/Munster region providing a wide array of expert legal services including commercial law and property.
The employment team is led by Aoife Hennessy, a partner in Sweeney McGann LLP, who has more than 22 years of experience across employment law and litigation and dispute resolution. It was Hennessy’s exemplary record in client services and track record on complex employment issues that saw her recognised with the award for Munster Employment Lawyer of the Year.
Hennessy said the awards were a testament to the high standard of work carried out by the entire team at Sweeney McGann LLP and their commitment to always building on client offerings. She said: “The key ethos to Sweeney McGann’s ongoing success is that we continuously strive towards our goals and work together to deliver the best service and support for our clients – whether they are individuals, businesses or organisations.” Hennessy, alongside Jane O’Connor, heads up the litigation team, which has been involved in numerous complex and high-profile cases – their success in which was reflected in winning the award for Munster Civil Litigation Law Firm of the Year.

A further key member of the team at Sweeney McGann LLP is managing partner Shane O’Neill, whose expertise was integral to securing the title of Sports Lawyer of the Year for the firm. O’Neill brings a wealth of experience personally and professionally to his role as lead partner in the sports law department and corporate/commercial law at Sweeney McGann LLP.
Welcoming the recent awards, O’Neill paid tribute to the “very skilled, adaptable and dedicated team” at Sweeney McGann LLP. He said: “We are committed to delivering quality service to our clients by continually identifying their ever-changing needs, ensuring to provide full service and investing in our staff.” He added: “We will continue to work together with our clients in supporting their commercial and HR needs and provide practical and sustainable solutions.”
