Blue-eyed soul artist to perform smooth concert in Limerick

Paul Young will be playing at UCH on Wednesday, February 28

ONE OF the biggest artists of the '80s, Paul Young, will be performing in Limerick this February.

Formerly the frontman of the short-lived bands Kat Kool & the Kool Cats, Streetband and Q-Tips, he became a pop idol with his solo success in the 1980s.

On Wednesday, February 28, he will be performing at University Concert Hall.

With ten Top 40 hits to his name, English singer Paul Young was one of the biggest artists of the eighties.

His boyish looks made him a teen idol, while his warm, smooth voice made him a respected blue-eyed soul singer. Who doesn't have Young's debut album No Parlez, with its pink cover and hits like Wherever I Lay My Hat and Come Back And Stay?

During this tour, Paul Young celebrates his 40th anniversary as a solo artist - expect stories from his career, work from his new album Behind The Lens and of course the many hits.
Young's smooth yet soulful voice belongs to a genre known as 'blue-eyed soul'.

He won a Brit Award for Best British Male in 1985, and his hit 'Every Time You Go Away' reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

In July 1985, Young appeared at Live Aid held at Wembley Stadium, London. Young sang the Crowded House track Don't

Dream It's Over at the Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute in 1988. In 1992, he sang 'Radio Ga Ga' with the surviving members of Queen at The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert.

The concert is presented via Dolans. Tickets are available via uch.ie
