Edward McCarthy in action for Galway United against Derry City in August
TALENTED Limerick soccer player Edwards McCarthy has re-signed for SSE Airtricity League Premier Division side Galway United ahead of the 2025 SSE Airtricity League Premier Division season.
The 23-year-old midfielder has committed to The Tribesmen for 2025 and heads into his third season with the club since signing in 2022.
McCarthy played League of Ireland football with Cork City before moving to Treaty United in 2021, making 21 appearances in his seven month spell at the club.
He joined the Tribesmen in February 2022 following a short spell at Limerick junior side Regional United.
The versatile McCarthy can operate in a number of positions across the pitch having played as a midfielder, winger and full-back for Treaty United.
In 2023 he had a breakthrough year, playing 38 times and scoring on nine occasions. His fantastic efforts were rewarded by him earning a place in the 2023 PFAI First Division Team Of The Year.
The Limerick native played 36 games for Galway United in 2024, and contributed via four goals and an assist.
