Treaty United boost as highly rated midfielder signs for hometown club

Former Limerick FC player Lee J Lynch has signed for Treaty United

TREATY United FC has announced the signing of Limerick native Lee J Lynch on a transfer from Coleraine in the Northern Ireland Football League Premiership.

Thirty two-year-old Lynch returns to his hometown club after spending two years with Coleraine.

Lynch started out his schoolboy career with Janesboro before moving on to Regional United with whom he won a number of local League and Cup titles and played with the LDSL representative side.

He also won two All Ireland senior schools titles with CBS Sexton Street.

Lynch's exploits captured the attention of cross-channel clubs and he signed for West Bromwich Albion in 2008. After a brief spell in Spain, he returned to Ireland to Drogheda United capturing Player of the Season.

The following season he moved to Sligo Rovers where he had a very successful two years winning the League of Ireland title and the FAI Cup.

During that time the Limerick native played in the Europa League and Champions League qualifiers. He had subsequent spells with St Patrick’s Athletic (winning the Presidents Cup) and Limerick FC in the League of Ireland before signing with Hamilton Academical in the Scottish Premiership.

He returned for 3 seasons to Limerick FC playing a pivotal role in getting them promoted to the Premier Division and a League Cup final where he scored a memorable goal to give his side the lead in the Markets Field.

Lynch joined Larne and helped them capture the NIFL Championship and County Antrim Shield and was part of a memorable Europa League qualification campaign.

Lee J Lynch told Treaty United Media how he was looking forward to playing for the club.

Lynch said: "I'm thrilled to be joining Treaty United, the transfer comes at a time in my career when it makes perfect sense to return to my hometown and to the League of Ireland.

"I've obviously, through family connections in the club and getting to some games, seen what Treaty United is all about. I fully believe I can add to the club and I cannot wait to get back in front of that Markets Field crowd, there is so much to play for yet this season.

"I'm very grateful for this opportunity. I'm fully committed to moving back to Limerick for work and football and I want to sincerely thank all those for making this happen over the last few days.

"I can't wait to meet my teammates and supporters in the days ahead."

Manager Tommy Barrett is delighted to welcome Lee J Lynch to the club.

Barrett said: "Having worked with Lee J previously I know the quality and experience he can bring to the squad. His combative, attacking style of play will add to our midfield options and we are looking forward to having him back representing his hometown."
