GAYNOR Cup action continues today at the University of Limerick as three teams face quarter-final action. After three group games which began on Monday, June 3 the draws for the Trophy, Shield, Bowl and Cup quarter-finals took place this morning Wednesday.
Limerick Desmond will compete in the Trophy with this game against Kildare kicking off at 2pm this afternoon. Desmond registered a 1-1 draw against Cavan Monaghan, their goal courtesy of Honor Mulvihill, in their opening round game. This result was followed by a 2-0 defeat to Kilkenny before another 4-1 loss against the Midlands.
Limerick County have received a bye in the quarter-finals of the Shield and will go straight through to the semi's. Similar to their Desmond counterparts County got a 1-all draw in their first game against Carlow and District. They got their first 2-1 victory against Kildare DUL before falling short to South Belfast, 2-0.
Limerick District, the final Treaty team in action, will face off against Kilkenny in the quarter-finals of the Bowl competition also at 2pm today. District started their Gaynor Cup campaign with a 3-1 loss to Mayo. They regrouped and got a well deserved 3-1 win against Waterford followed by another 3-1 win against NERL.
