IN SENSATIONAL news this Wednesday afternoon, Treaty United are set to be taken over by Tricor Pacific Capital, a Canadian investment firm.

Current Treaty women's player Ciara McCormack is set to take over as the club's new CEO and in doing so will become the first ever female in that role with a League of Ireland club. Canadian born McCormack will also have an ownership stake in the club according to reports.

The news comes after nearly a year of discussions between the relevant parties. The deal is set to be completed in the next day or so with the current Treaty board moving aside. Tricior are expected to invest significantly in both the men's and women's Treaty teams.

A source close to the club revealed that an English Premier League club had approached Treaty United in recent months with a view to a partnership but talks with Tricor were already well advanced at that stage.
