Walking down Galway's Dyke Road brought a feeling like no other on FAI Cup semi-final day. Football fans came in their droves to the city as Galway United and Bohemians went head to head at Eamonn Deacy Park on a humid October Saturday.
Echoes of 'Maroon Army' could be heard from the nearby pub as the atmosphere's volume increased with every step en route to the stadium.
People were in early to pick their seats as the wait to kick-off began. Programmes, checking the clubs' socials for team line-ups, the smell of curry chips and the pre-match music were all adding to the matchday experience.
Minute by minute the home and away ends started to fill up as both sets of supporters chanted their teams on until the very end. That's what football is all about, being there to watch it live, willing the ball towards the opposition's net.
It wasn't to be for the Tribesmen as Bohemians won the game 1-0. Recent Ireland call-up Jonathan Afolabi caught the eye with his pace and power. It can be a joy to watch some of these League of Ireland players up close.

As for Bohs, they can look forward to heading to the Aviva Stadium in November. Declan Devine's side defended resolutely with ten men during Saturday's game - plenty of heart and quality in attack. They'll be difficult to beat in this year's FAI Cup final.
If you haven't attended a game, give the league a chance. It provides a great day out for people of all ages.
