Record numbers attend women's game at Aviva as Ireland beats Northern Ireland 3-0

Record numbers attended the women's game at the Aviva today (September 23) as Ireland beat Northern Ireland 3-0.

Almost 36,000 people attended to support the girls in green as they kicked off their Women's Nation's League opener, making it the biggest home crowd ever at a women's national team game.

Lucy Quinn scored a brilliant goal to place Ireland 1-0 up against opponents Northern Ireland just before half time.

Speaking to Balls.ie after the game, she said, "To see it hit the back of the net, I couldn't really tell you after that, you kind of black out a little bit.

"An unbelievable feeling and one that will probably never be topped in my career."

Two further goals from Kyra Carusa and Lily Agg secured the fantastic win.
