Shamrock Rovers playmaker Jack Byrne is linked with a move to Major League Soccer outfit Charlotte FC, according to the Independent.ie.

Charlotte, who sit near the foot of the MLS Eastern Conference table after 8 games, have been keen to sign Byrne for a while with the US transfer window shutting on Monday.

The 26-year-old Dubliner made a return to Tallaght Stadium in January 2022, winning last year's League of Ireland Premier Division and making 10 appearances so far this season - scoring two goals and assisting five times.

The North Carolina club have reportedly submitted a six-figure bid for the former Manchester City youngster who is under contract with Rovers for the remainder of the 2023 season.

Byrne has won four caps for the Republic of Ireland senior side to date.
