LIMERICK St Munchin's College will look to book at place in this season's Munster Schools Boys Junior Cup when facing CBC, of Cork, in their semi-final clash today, Wednesday.

The game at Thomond Park will kick-off at 2pm.

Seven-time Junior Cup winners St Munchin's secured their place in the semi-finals by scoring an impressive 29-12 victory over PBC at Virgin Media Park last month. The Corbally side scored five tries in their win over Pres'.

St Munchin's led 12-7 at half-time, scoring two tries in the opening half through Alex Fennell and Sam McGlynn, with Donnacha McKenna converting the opening try.

PBC hit back after the restart with their second try of the game to draw level.

However, St Munchin's responded superbly scoring tries from Darragh Mullane and Sam McGlynn, his second of the game, to regain control. McKenna also converted one of the tries.

The Limerick side then wrapped up a convincing victory when centre Alex Fennell crashed over for his second try of the game to secure their place in the semi-finals of the Junior Cup.

The most recent of St Munchin's Junior Cup successes was in 2020 when they shared the title with CBC as the final wasn't played due to Covid-19.

Prior to that, St Munchin's defeated CBC 15-10 in the 2018 final.

The second semi-final in this season's Munster Schools Junior Cup also takes place today, Wednesday, when Rockwell College and Bandon Grammar School go head-to-head at Fethard Town Park with a 2.30pm kick-off time.
