THE Limerick District League will chase Gaynor Cup U14 interleague glory today, Friday, when taking on the Dublin District  League in the showpiece final at 3pm at University of Limerick.

The Gaynor Cup is Ireland's premier interleague tournament for U14 girls football, organised by the Schoolboys/Girls Football Association of Ireland (SFAI)

Limerick District booked their place in the Gaynor Cup final after recording a dramatic penalty shoot-out semi-final victory over the Roscommon District League on Thursday.

The sides had finished tied 1-1 with Lily Rose Noonan netting the goal for Limerick District to help her side into a 1-0 half-time lead.

The semi-final was then decided by a penalty shoot-out with Limerick District edging the outcome 4-3 as Zoe McNamara, Aoife Grant, Anna Meaney and Mia McLoughlin converted their spot kicks.

The DDSL reached Friday's final by overcoming the Cork Women’s & Schoolgirl Soccer League 2-0 in their semi-final.

UL has been hosting the Gaynor Cup since its inception in 2013.

The Limerick Desmond League is also in action at the Gaynor Cup on Friday morning (10am) when facing the Derry League in their Trophy play-off fixture at UL.

The Desmond League suffered a 2-0 defeat to the Clare League in their Trophy semi-final at UL on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Limerick County League secured two wins in their Gaynor Cup fixtures at UL on Thursday.

Limerick County defeated the NERL 1-0 in their Bowl play-off fixture and followed up with another 1-0 win over the Kildare League later in the day in another Bowl play-off game.
