FORMER International and Munster rugby player Peter Clohessy has taken to social media to congratulate his daughter, Jane, on getting her first senior cap for Munster.

A true Limerick man and renowned in the rugby world jokingly said in his Instagram caption "The boys couldn't so I suppose Jane had to. Proud day."

Daughter of the former prop, Jane,  made her debut for Munster rugby's womens side in their first round clash in the Vodafone Interpro's against Ulster after coming off the bench.

Jane Clohessy plays for UL Bohemians and only came back to the sport of rugby at 22 years-old. After being chosen in Niamh Brigg's squad for the Interpro series she has not looked back since.

Coming from such a sporting family clearly helped Jane's choice in going back rugby. Her father, Peter, made 73 appearances for to province and 54 for Ireland.

Jane will hope to follow in her fathers footsteps as she is named in this weekend's match day squad for Munster when they face Connacht in Musgrave Park on Saturday, August 19.

The 12:45 game will be streamed live on TG4.
