Former Munster Rugby centre Dan Goggin has made the move to France ahead of next season.
FORMER Munster Rugby centre Dan Goggin has signed for French D2 side US Montauban on a one-year deal.
Goggin completed his time at Munster in April when it was announced he was leaving the province to pursue a new playing opportunity abroad.
His playing opportunities for Munster Rugby since last autumn have been limited. The 28-year-old, who made six appearances for the province in the United Rugby Championship this season, has featured quite regularly for Young Munster in Division 1A of the Energia All-Ireland League.
A former St Munchin’s College student, Goggin has represented the Ireland U20s and the Ireland 7s side. He scored 10 tries in 81 Munster appearances since making his debut against Scarlets in September 2016.
Montauban, Goggin’s new club, competes in the second level of the country’s professional league system. The signing gives the Limerick man a new opportunity to get more playing time and experience under his belt in France.
