Limerick man's four-in-a-row election bid in the city and county

Aontu reveal their general election candidate for Limerick County

Limerick man's four-in-a-row election bid in the city and county

Retired principal and long-serving community council chair, Michael Ryan from Pallasgreen

MICHAEL Ryan has a unique political record.

The Pallasgreen man ran for the Dail and council in the city, for the council in Cappamore-Kilmallock and now to be a TD in Limerick County.

He was chosen, at a well-attended convention in Pallasgrean Community Centre, as the Aontú candidate for the general election.

In a wide-ranging speech, Mr Ryan urged delegates to fight very hard to elect a TD from the east of the constituency as, “We are not getting our due share at the moment”.

The former principal at Our Lady Queen of Peace Primary School, Janesboro is married to Teresa and they have five grown up children.

The chair of Pallasgreen Community Council believes the best way to tackle the housing crisis is for councils to be given the resources by Government to  buy up land in or near  villages

“The best example I can give you is, back in the 70s,  the council bought a huge farm in Pallasgreen. They sold it to the community council at a small cost.

"Out of that we've got the housing estate, community centre, GAA pitch, soccer pitch and playground,” said Mr Ryan, who is a firmly pro life candidate.

“It's about supporting people from before they're born, right up to death.

"In other words, that we have the right services for people - hospital services that they're not afraid to go into the hospital.

“I don't question the pro choice people at all. All I would ask is are we giving support to women in crisis pregnancies, and want to have their baby,” said Mr Ryan.
