The Sinn Féin TD was selected unopposed
MAURICE Quinlivan TD has been selected to run in the next general election for Sinn Féin in Limerick City.
Deputy Quinlivan was first elected to the Dáil in 2016 and went on to top the poll in the 2020 general election.
He was eliminated from the mayoral election in June at the ninth count, after polling 11,571 votes.
Mr Quinlivan joins Brian Leddin TD, Green Party, Melanie Sheehan Cleary, Mid-West Hospital Campaign, Cllr Frankie Daly, Independent, Cllr Sarah Beasley, Aontú, and Cllr Conor Sheehan, Labour, in the bid for one of the four Limerick City seats in Dáil Éireann.
Mr Quinlivan, who was selected unopposed, says he is honoured to be chosen by his party to contest the next general election.

“I want to thank the local Sinn Féin organisation in Limerick for their support and I look forward to the general election campaign ahead. Limerick, despite our challenges, is a fantastic place to live and work and it has been the privilege of my life to have represented the people of Limerick and I hope to continue doing so,” he continued.
He added that “there remain many challenges facing our county including the housing crisis, the cost of living and the failures at our main hospital, UHL”.
“The housing crisis in Limerick continues to impact the lives of many who can neither afford to purchase or rent a home,” he explained. “The challenges facing the health service in Limerick must be addressed and it is my hope that I can continue to advocate for change on behalf of the people of Limerick.”
Mr Quinlivan feels that “the people of Limerick City deserve much better than that. I hope to have the opportunity to continue to fight their corner after the next general election, and to see our communities thrive and reach their full potential.
“We will continue to work hard. I am very grateful for the Sinn Féin nomination, and I look forward to the campaign ahead.”
