Planning permission has been secured for a 60-home housing development near the Limerick border in County Clare, which will also include a new playground for residents.
The application, recently granted by Clare County Council, will see the development built in the village of Meelick.
Originally applied for in April of last year, Coast to Coast Energy Solutions Ltd has now been given the go ahead to proceed with the 60-unit development.

The 60 houses will be comprised of four detached houses, 20 semi-detached houses and 36 duplex units, the development will also feature a playground.
The playground will include a play tower and spinner bowl for children aged four and up, swings for those aged two and over, a playhouse for children and babies from six months, a hammock for children aged three and above, and a bench for parents.
Objections were raised to the initial planning application citing concerns around the environmental impact the new development would have on local flora and fauna, as well as one objector saying the site is not suited to the development.
In their objection they expressed concerns that "the developer has attempted to retrofit a high-density suburban model onto a constrained rural site" which they said "has resulted in contradictory technical claims."
Another objection raised concerns about school capacity in the area, stating that ‘granting permission for 61 new families in a catchment where the primary school is already relying on temporary structures violates the requirement to align housing growth with social infrastructure.’
Despite these objections, the local authority granted planning permission on March 26 for the proposed development to proceed subject to 22 planning conditions.
