THE BOARD of management at a school in Limerick city is to seek planning permission for an extension.
The development is planned at Scoil Mháthair Dé in South Circular Road.
A new single-storey extension to the school is proposed, with an application due to be lodged with the local authority in the next two weeks.
If approved, the new extension will incorporate a special educational needs unit on the southside of the existing schoo building.
Measuring almost five metres in height, it will incorporate two new special educational needs classrooms.
The extension will also include accessible toilets, two quiet spaces, and a multi-activity room.
On top of this, there will be a classroom for daily living skills.
Also included in the development, which will measure 607 square metres, is a central activity space, a mainstream classroom, staff toilets, a staff office, and cleaner store.
The project will be finished off with an external play area and sensory garden and other minor works which may be necessary.
