MINISTER PATRICK O'DONOVAN has announced a €5.6 million euro investment for Limerick City Fire Station and Cappamore Fire Station.

As well as station upgrades, the investment will include a new fire truck for the county.

The minister said in a statement: “I’m delighted to see this level of investment in our fire services here in Limerick, including a €2.5 million upgrade for Cappamore Fire Station and €3.1 million for Limerick City Fire Station.”

Mr O'Donovan continued: “These projects will ensure our firefighters have access to modern, fit-for-purpose facilities and the equipment they need to respond quickly and effectively. Our firefighters do extraordinary work every day, often in very challenging conditions, and it is essential that we continue to invest in the infrastructure that supports them.”

“This is about keeping people safe, strengthening our emergency response, and ensuring communities right across Limerick can rely on a service that is properly equipped for the future.”

The funding comes in the wake of fire services responding to increasing challenges such as severe weather events and wildland fires.
