THINK you know your stuff about soccer? Think you could be Limerick’s best Fantasy Football manager? Well now is your chance to prove it.

With the English Premier League season now less than a week away, the Limerick Leader is delighted to invite our readers and friends into our second annual Private League in the hugely popular Fantasy Premier League.

Entering couldn’t be any easier. All you have to do is log on to http://fantasy.premierleague.com, pick your squad of 15 players and enter the code 712416-179606 in order to join the Limerick Leader league. You can also enter as many other private leagues as you want.

You are given a budget of £100m and must pick a squad of 15 players - two goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders and three attackers. Each player is priced according to their ability - Arsenal’s Robin van Persie is £13m, Southampton’s Danny Butterfield is £4m - and players earn points depending on how they perform. Points are awarded for goals scored, assists, clean sheets kept while deductions are made for yellow or red cards and goals conceded. There is also a bonus points system for the three best players in each game while your selected captain earns you double points.

Last season’s competition - which had over 1400 entrants - was won by UL student Declan Lillis who pipped Ciaran Ryan on the last day of the season. It proved to be just as exciting a finale as the real Premiership campaign.

Lillis prize last season was a 51” flatscreen TV, kindly sponsored by Jack Fitzgerald Ltd.

This year’s prizes will be announced later this week.
