The fashion show was a knock-out celebration of Irish design, local millinery, and home-grown fashion

I AM WRITING to you after the most incredible fashion show. I had the time of my life at the Continentally Classic event at InterContinental hotel in Dublin.

The legendary fashion journalist Bairbre Power organised the soirée and the occasion was truly one for the ages. Bairbre and I struck up a friendship when I was 45, and it has been a pleasure attending her shows through the years.

The event was a celebration of Irish design, millinery, and fashion. There was incredible silk, Irish linen and divine textiles on show.

Whenever I buy anything the first thing I consider is the material, and if the quality of the fabric will stand the test of time. With Irish fashion, materials are always front and centre, and this event was no different. Oh, and before I forget to mention – for all those curious – the camisole and skirt I wore are from Brown Thomas Limerick.

The coterie in attendance was simply the best of the best of Irish fashion. All the top names in television and fashion donned their very best outfits for what showed itself to be a fabulous evening. The salon was a vision into the Irish fashion scene, with sensational garments everywhere you looked.

I had the pleasure of meeting my long-time friend Derek Daniels, owner of Assets Model Agency, and Ashley McDonnell, the founder of Irish Fashion Week. Ashley is an extraordinary mover and shaker, with incredible events organising experience, and of course, I’ve known Derek for years through my work with the Holman Lee models. I have to say, I truly delight in keeping such great company.

The building was wall to wall with Ireland’s top couture designers. I have to say I was blown away by the calibre of guests.

With the distinguished beautiful audience, the sensational garments, and a fabulous atmosphere, I enjoyed myself to no end.

Of course I had my wonderful doting husband Ger in tow. I think it can be good to allow the men to get out every once in a while - within reason, of course! We had the pleasure of being looked after by Nicky Logue - the hotel’s general manager. We were absolutely pampered from the beginning to the end of our stay. The level of service, luxury, and attention to detail at the Intercontinental Hotel made us feel like royalty.

There truly is nothing like a luxurious hotel stay to reset your life and bring you back to yourself. I feel so revitalised having reconnected with the Irish fashion community, and then I had some time to recharge after. I hope you, my wonderful readers, also make time to treat yourself this week - because you’re worth it!

Stay fabulous,

-Xx Celia
