MASS ON THE HILL: A fine crowd attended the graveyard mass on the hill of Ardpatrick on Sunday last, the celebrant was Rev. Fr Anthony Bluett, Ardpatrick, the alter area was under cover near the old monastery wall, the weather was good on the day. The graveyard committee and grave owners did a major job in cleaning the graveyard of grass and the grass margins leading to the top of the hill.
CASTLE TOURS: Due to public demand the tours of Castle Oliver continue all this week up to Sunday September 1th. Last weekend was exceptionally busy with two extra tours on Sunday afternoon.
Tour times 12 noon, also 2 and 4 pm, at the weekend if there is demand. Tours will be every hour on the hour from 12 noon to 4 pm. for more information www.castleoliver.ie
LADIES CLUB: Ardpatrick Ladies Club will hold a meeting in the community centre on Monday evening September 2 at 8 pm, all welcome
BEREAVEMENT : People were saddened in the locality on the hearing of the unexpected death of Pat Sheahan of Bawnmore, he died at University Hospital Limerick on August 20 a popular man in the community who went about his daily farm work in a quiet and dignified manner.
Very big crowds attended his removal from McCarthy’s Funeral Home, Kilfinane to Ardpatrick Church on Wednesday evening of last week. Burial took place in Ballingaddy Cemetery after Requiem mass on Thursday. the chief celebrant was Rev Fr. Anthony Bluett, Ardpatrick, assisted by Rev Fr. Michael Hanley, Kilfinane and Cannon Willie Fitzmaurice, Kilmallock.
Sympathy is extended to the late Pat’s wife Phil, son Tom, daughter Lilian, brothers Denis and Diarmuid, relatives and many friends, may he rest in peace.
WALKS: Ballyhoura Bears have a walk from Ballinvreena on this Thursday evening at 7.30, contact 087-6569224.
On Saturday and Sunday next the club is walking in relays from Cork city to Caherdaniel in Kerry, a distance of about 90 miles.
