THE LATE Richard SLYNE: The death occurred unexpectedly on September 4 of Richard Slyne, Ahacross Kildorrery. The late Richard was very well known locally. His popularity was borne out in the very large and represented attendance at the removal from Hannon’s Funeral Home Kildorrery to St. Bartholomew’s Church on Friday evening and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Saturday. Interment took place to the local cemetery. To his wife Margaret (Nee Lyons) sons Michael, Daniel, daughters Laura and Orla, sister Noreen (Young) daughter in law Lynette, grandsons Luke and Dean, father in law Albert, mother in law Anne, brothers in law Martin, Padraigh, Joseph, J P O’Shea Denis (Young) & Bernie (O’Regan) sisters in law Siobhan (Lynch) Katerina (McSweeney) Josephine (O’Shea) Ailish, Angela, & Marie. nephews, nieces, relatives and a large circle of friends we tender our sincere sympathy.
THE LATE JOHNNY DUNNE: The death occurred on September 8 at his residence Middle Graigue Kildorrery of John (Johnny) Dunne). The late Johnny was very well known locally. He was a member of of the farming community and was very active within the Church services in Kildorrery Church. There was a very large and represented attendance at the removal on Sunday evening from the family home to St Bartholomew’s Church Kildorrery and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Monday. Interment took place to Kildorrery Cemetery. To his wife Hannah, daughter Siobhan, sons Tom and Seanie, daughters in law Christine and Sinead, grandchildren T J and Oisin, brothers Tom and David, sisters Tess Fitzgibbon and Joan Perara, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews relatives neighbours and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.
FOOTBALLERS THROUGH TO CO SEMI FINAL: Mitchelstown Junior A footballers overcame Kilmichael in the Co JAFC quarter final at Pairc Ui Rinn on Friday evening last. ‘Town started very well leading 0-5 to 0-1 after 12 minutes. Kilmichael did well on the resumption and 5 points on the trot had them ahead 1-5 to 0-7. Mitchelstown rallied well and goals by Shane Beston and Jason Cott helped them to a 2-9 to 1- 6 win. Town will now have to wait till early October for their semi final clash against the winner of the East Cork and City sides clash the end of this month. HEALTHY WALKS: Healthy walks will take place each Monday night at 7pm from John Mandeville New Square for all ages. Minimum 30 minute walk for a healthy heart.

SCHOOL REUNION: A school reunion has been organised for all those who attended Presentation Convent Primary & Secondary, CBS Primary & Secondary and St Fanahan’s Schools Mitchelstown from 1975 to 1988. The Reunion will take place on Saturday September 14 starting with a Mass at Mitchesltown Parish Church at 7.30pm followed by drinks, food and music at Walsh’s Yard Bar Lower Cork St., All past pupils are welcome to come along on the night to share School day memories.
MUSIC SOCIETY: Mitchelstown Musical Society are holding their Open Night on this Thursday September 12 in the Town Hall at 8pm. New members and former members are welcome to re join.
KILDORRERY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: Kildorrery Community Development will hold a meeting this Thursday night September 12 at 7.30pm in the Community Hall. Agenda -future development of Creamery Complex and provision of car parking for Church and School. Carmel Fox CEO Ballyhoura Development will address the meeting. All clubs and organisations in the community will be represented. This is an opportunity to have an imput into your community’s development.
