Lattin Tennis Club: Our annual Arthur Dunne tournament will commence on Wednesday September 18, with the final taking place on Saturday September 28. As always this is a charitable event with all monies donated to local charities, so we urge all our regular players and those of you who would like to support the event to text your interest to Raymond O’Brien (0871972247). Closing date for entries is Saturday September 14. The cost is €10 per head, so we look forward to meeting you all on court!
Mixed Doubles Tournament: Our latest mixed doubles tournament commenced last Friday night. All players must organize games throughout the week so we can get through the games quickly. Thanks to all that have entered and we look forward to some great tennis.
End of Tuesday tournaments:Our Summer tournament finished on Tuesday August 27. Recent winners are as follows: Aoife Maher and Tony O’Neill, Danny Moloney and Hannah Kate Heffernan, Ciara Nash and Shane O’Grady. We would like to thank all the children for their support during the summer and thanks also to Jenny and Lisa who helped with umpiring. We encourage all the children to keep up their skills through play, so all members should avail of our excellent courts.
Ladies Football: Lattin Cullen GAA Club are holding a Family Sports day on next Sunday September 15 with all age races for children and a Barbecue from 2 to 5 pm. We are still accepting recycled bags of clothes, which can be dropped into the Referee’s Room during any training session. All support is very much appreciated. The Junior Ladies are playing in a county semi-final next weekend. No time or venue yet decided. Best of luck to the ladies and to Roger, Shane and Timmy who have put a lot of hard work into preparing this team.
Soccer: Cullen-Lattin A Team defeated Rosegreen by 4 -1 in the First Division League last Sunday in Aisling Park. The visitors opened the scoring after four minutes, but two goals from Davy Ryan had Cullen ahead at the break. The home team continued to dominate on the resumption and added further goals from Alan Hayes and an og. Next Sunday the team is away to Two-Mile-Borris at 3 pm. The B Team was comprehensively defeated by Suirside in its first league match of the season. The team face another tough challenge next Sunday at home to Dualla at 3 pm.
Gun Club: ELCO Gun Club membership fees are now due and should be paid to Denis Quinlan or Gerard Riordan as soon as possible. The club have organized a greyhound race night for Thurles Stadium on Saturday, October 26.
