GAA NEWS: On Saturday our U-16 defeated Ballybricken/Bohermore by 2-12 to 1-7 in the East Hurling Div. 2 final, and qualify for the county semi-final.
Congratulations to our young players on their achievement. The same evening saw our senior footballers take on St. Patricks in the last round of the championship in Caherconlish. Despite playing the better football throughout most of the first half, Pallasgreen found themselves trailing by 3-2 to 1-4 courtesy of two late goals from St. Patricks. The four point gap was not insurmountable, however the task was made much harder by the sending off of Jonathon Deere early in the second half for a second bookable offence. A well taken goal by Tony McMahon narrowed the gap, however St. Patricks were able to use their personnel advantage to good effect, scoring 1-4 to Pallasgreen’s 1-1 in the second half. The final score was 4-6 to 2-5 leaving Pallasgreen in the relegation final where they will face Mountcollins to maintain their senior status. Scorers were: Aidan Shanahan 1-1, Tony McMahon 1-0, Seamus Mulcahy 0-2, Duane O’Carrol & Kevin Barry a point each. Our Junior B hurlers were due to face Doon in the East final on Sunday morning. However the game was called off due to the death of Seanie Murnane (RIP) former chairman of the East Board. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends.
