CHARITY 5 KM RUN/WALK: On Saturday April 27th at 7.20 pm Friends of Limerick ‘73 will hold a charity 5 Km Run/Walk in Knockane, Pallasgreen. Runners €10 and walkers €5 with all proceeds going to Milford Care Centre, MS Limerick and Lisnagry Association Limerick. A special aspect is our “best of three times” team event. There is no limit to the number of participants on a team but the three lowest times will count. The team with the lowest aggregate times will be the winner. So any GAA, Family, Soccer, Rugby team can participate and make the event a bit more special. As luck would have it we are competing with the Munster Rugby Game and The Limerick Football game which commence at 5.00 pm. The Idler Bar will be showing the games should you wish to get here early. We can stall the start to 7.20 pm . We ask you to make a special effort to attend and thanking you in anticipation of your support. We look forward to seeing you on the night. DEISE COMMUNITY CLUB ANNUAL OUTING – CHANGE OF DATE: Because of numerous events during ‘The Bruff Gathering Festival 1 – 7 July 2013’ , the Deise Community Club Annual Outing will take place on Thursday 11th July 2013 . ( second Thursday in July ) Full Details later.
BRUFF COMMUNITY PLAYGROUND: Fundraising for the new community playground continues with a “Night at the Dogs” scheduled for May 11th. This promises to be a great night of family entertainment, with some of the highlights being the auction of a greyhound pup donated by Kilkenny trainer, Paul Hennessy, a best-dressed lady competition, and a raffle where the first prize is an Angus heifer. Entrance tickets are currently on sale for €10, with under 16’s being free.
IRISH CANCER SOCIETY: The Irish Cancer Society’s ‘Care to Drive’ transport service is available for patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment in the Mid-Western Regional Hospital, Limerick. This service is completely free to the patient – a driver will pick you up at the door of your home and bring you to the hospital & then, after treatment, bring you home. So if you are having trouble getting to and from the hospital for your chemotherapy treatment, please speak to your oncology team in the Mid-Western Regional Hospital or call Gail on 01 2310 566
SHAPE UP FOR SUMMER: A new fun 12 week weight loss group is starting on Monday 29th April at 7.30pm, in the Hospital Family Resource Centre. BRUFF TIDY TOWNS – LENORE QUILTY AWARDS SCHEME:“If each before his own door swept, the whole village would be clean”. Chinese Proverb. It does not seem like a year since we launched this scheme. The aim is to promote local involvement in the upkeep of streets/estates as well as to encourage householders and businesses to brighten up their own area. Categories are as follows: CATEGORY 1: Best Kept Housing Estate/Street, CATEGORY 2: Best Front Garden - Urban or Rural, CATEGORY 3: Window Boxes/Hanging Baskets and CATEGORY 4: Best Kept Shop Front/Business. The main criteria for adjudication are:• Litter Control , • Colour - Including Planting and Painting, • Weed Control and • Overall Appearance. Application forms may be got from any member of the committee or by ringing 086 3375207. We would ask you to call together some like-minded neighbours and form a small committee with a view to entering before Wednesday, 19th May, 2013. An awards ceremony will be held in the Autumn and prizes will be given out. Please let’s get together and make a “blooming”difference.
BRUFF TIDY TOWNS – SPRING CLEAN: A huge thank you to all members of the community who so far have braved the elements to join us on our Spring Clean event. We were delighted with the turnout and even more thrilled with the very visible results achieved. Our thanks to Limerick County Council for the distribution of gloves and litter pickers and to Moss Daly for facilitating the refuse collection. BRUFF-GRANGE-MEANUS SCOUTS : Scouts, Cubs and Beavers braved the wind and showers to go kayaking in Castleconnell last Sunday. It was great to get them all back on the water again after the winter break and we are putting a schedule together to keep kayaking through the summer months. We are also planning our Summer camp in June which is always a great success.

HOSPITAL TENNIS CLUB: Would you like to learn a new sport in a fun and relaxed environment? Hospital Tennis Club are organising tennis coaching for new players or for those who want to refresh their tennis skills. Coaching starts on Monday 30th and continues on Tues 7th May, Mon 13th May, Mon 20th May and Mon 27th May. It’s a great way to exercise, meet new people and learn a new sport.
