RECENT DEATHS: Following a protracted illness, Elizabeth Downey, Pallaskenry passed away at her home on Saturday January 4. Sympathy is extended to her husband Mícheál, her son PJ, extended family and circle of friends. Her funeral took place to Kilcornan cemetery on Tuesday January 7, following Requiem Mass in her local parish church. Ar dheis Dé to raibh a h-anam dílis.
ANNIVERSARIES: On Sunday January 5 deceased members of the Griffin family were remembered at noon Mass, namely Thomas & Nora, their daughter Eileen Walsh and grandson Thomas. Kitty, Con and Johnny Ward will be commemorated with the midday Mass on January 12, as will deceased members of the local GAA.
GAA LOTTO: The last draw of 2013 was held on December 30 with the winning combination for a Jackpot of €6,600 numbers 8, 21, 24 & 28. As no member predicted this combination, ‘Lucky Dips’ of €50 were drawn by Laura Sheehan, Jack Fitzgibbon, Dermot Mullane and the O’Donnells, J & L.
CALORIE BURNING: Should you need to undo some of the indulgence of the past celebrations, then ‘The Seven Sisters’ offers a programme to do just that. On Wednesday January 8, ‘Zumba Exercises’ have recommenced at 7.00 pm for €5 a class and if you want a less energetic honing exercise for the body beautiful, ‘Yoga for Beginners’ begins at 7.00 pm on Tuesday January 14, at €10 per session. BANTRACHT NA TUAITHE CILL DÍOMA: Details of forthcoming ICA activities including Zumba Gold, Knitting & Crochet group and Painting will be finalized shortly and will resume within the next two weeks. Guild meeting will take place on Wed February 5th at 2.30pm in ‘Seven Sisters ‘Pub,Old Kildimo and Book Club members will meet on Tuesday February 11th at ‘De Bucket ‘Pub, Ferrybridge at 1.15pm.
