NIALL MELLON DRAMA FUNDRAISER: Rated as “Must See” by The New York Times, supporters of high quality drama will have an opportunity to see this unique show when Pat Kinevane brings his one man play “SILENT” to The Woodlands Hotel on Thursday, September 4. Pat is kindly giving his performance free gratis to support The Niall Mellon Project, which this year will see a school and health centre being built in one of the most deprived parts of Kenya. Including a cheese and wine reception, tickets cost €20 with all proceeds raised going to this worthy cause. A show not to be missed. AUTUMN FAIR: Desmond Complex Newcastle West are holding an “AUTUMN FAIR” from 1pm to 6pm on Sunday August 25 on the grounds of Desmond Complex. There will be many attractions on the day including stalls, music, games for children and a draw with some valuable prizes. This fair is intended as a fundraiser, but it will also provide information to the people of the local area on the facilities we provide for various groups of people from far and wide. CLIONA’S FOUNDATION CYCLE: Cliona’s Foundation Cycle, now in its 6th year will take place on Saturday August 31 leaving from the Honeyfitz Theatre, Lough Gur. With three routes this year including an 8km for family and funsters (fee €25.00), the organisers have appealed to experienced cyclists with a challenging 90km route (fee €30.00) and a less arduous 40km route (€30.00) for leisure cyclists. KILCORNAN PLATFORM DANCING GATHERING: The Kilcornan ‘Platform Dancing Committee’ has chosen Sunday September 1 for the next session outside the gates of Curraghchase, to be held between 3.00 and 6.00 pm. As usual Pat O’Connell will be calling the dances to the very popular musician Michael Sexton. The opportunity to involve local balladeers and artists will be given and all for free.
