CONCERT IN AID OF MILFORD HOSPICE: the organisers of the Gathering Concert thank everyone who supported the concert, which was part of the Walk of Life initiative for Milford Hospice. A special word of thanks to the musicians, singers, dancers, those who done recitations, those who manned the car park, those who attended the door, ticket sellers, those who helped prepare and tidy the hall and those who prepared and distributed refreshments. All performers and volunteers paid the admission fee on the night. Special thanks to the producer Nancy Wheeler for her dedication and hard work. €1477.70 was raised on the night and an anonymous donor gave a generous donation of €500, for which we are very grateful, bringing the total raised to date at almost €2,000. Nancy Wheeler, John O’Grady or Esther Hurley are still accepting donations and sponsorship cards are available for the Walk of Life, which will take place on Saturday October 19th. All funds raised will be donated to Milford Hospice
FASHION SHOW: Knockainey National School continue their gargantuan fundraising efforts with a Fashion Show in Bulgaden Castle on the 9th of November. The first model takes to the catwalk at 8pm and fashion houses contributing include Shaws Department Store, Evans, Dorothy Perkins, Burton For Men, Wallis, Be Fabulous, AX Paris, Mothercare, X-pose, Little Chancers, Kiddy Korner, Glow Fashion Accessories and Raspberry Red. Entry costs a paltry €10 and patrons are guaranteed a great night’s entertainment. Compere for the evening is John Fitzgerald and he will be joined by a special guest in the person of Vivienne from Fair City (Helen Norton). Modelling will be done by a veritable who’s who of the locality. Over 70 kids from the National school will participate and will be joined by many parents and ex-pupils. Also helping out on the modelling front will be local celebrities Gavin O Mahony and Becky Costello who will be sharing the catwalk with Mairead Lavery (editor of Country Living). As if that wasn’t enough there will be a Best Dressed Lady and Gent competition, a raffle with sumptuous prizes and extensive entertainment! Furthermore, Shaws will present every ticket-holder with a €5 voucher to be spent in-store when spending €30 or more. The fashion show is just one event we have planned to raise the final €15,000 needed for the refurbishment of the school. There is a clothes and mobile phone collection on the 16th of October; we are hoping for your support with an autumn clean out of your wardrobes. Finally, we would like to express our gratitude for the donation of €522 that was received from the sports day on Sunday 6th of October with a genuine thank you to all who organised and helped out on the day.
STORYTELLING FESTIVAL: The primary school storytelling competition will take place in the Honeyfitz Theatre on Friday October 25th at 7.30pm Miriam Lambert Puppeteer - performs the Gingerbread man in the Honeyfitz Saturday October 26. Shows at 1.45pm and 3.45pm Tickets €5.00. John Spillane will perform in the Honeyfitz on Saturday October 26th Door open at 8pm. Tickets €15 On Sunday October 27th after Aifreann Ui Riada in Patrickswell Church the Graveyard & literary Mystery Bus Tour led by Michael Quinlan will leave from the Honeyfitz Theatre at 10.30am Tickets €30-€35 depending on numbers. Price includes lunch. Author Debbie Thomas will read for children in the Heritage Centre on Sunday 27th at 1.45pm and 3pm. Booking in advance is recommended as places are limited, At 8.30pm in the Honeyfitz the melodrama Mrs Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch will be performed by the Lough Gur Amateur Dramatic Society. Tickets €10. Children €5. On Monday 28th of October a second showing of Mrs Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch will take place in the Honeyfitz Theatre at 8.30pm. Ticket price €10 for Adults and €5 for children.
FUNDRAISING DANCE IN BULGADEN: There will be a 1960’s fund raising dance in Bulgaden Castle featuring Crystal swing and Old News (support band) on Friday night October 25th. with all proceeds going to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin. This is a most worthy cause so let down your hair, roll back the years and swing the night as in the swinging sixties. Admission €10. Please support.
HOSPITAL COMMUNITY PLAYGROUND: is finally open.. We would like to thank each and everyone who has contributed in any way to the fundraising efforts of the Committee. We hope that everyone can enjoy it and respect it.
FASHION SHOW: Limerick Ladies Gaelic Football are presenting a Gala fashion show in The Woodlands Hotel on Thursday Oct 24th in association with Ursula Stokes Model Agency. Tickets are only €15 including cheese and wine and free entry to the grand draw which has a main prize of €1,000. Supporting shops include The K Boutique, Aisling Maher, Bella Sola, Catherine McCormack, Gretta Gibbs, Annettes, Abbeyfeale and Tony Connolly and many others.. This promises to be a very enjoyable evening and we hope to see you all there.
