BRÓN: The death occurred on Monday, June 3rd of Joan Cronin (née Flynn ) of Tullig North. She was aged 79 and had been in declining health in recent times. Her remains lay in repose at her daughter, Helena Flavin’s residence on Wednesday evening. Removal to Templeglantine church for requiem mass took place on Thursday and burial was in St.Mary’s cemetery, Abbeyfeale. Joan was a quiet, kind hearted lady, highly respected by all. She loved gardening and enjoyed her shopping trips. She will be sadly missed by her family, relatives, neighbours and friends. Joan is survived by daughter Helena, son TJ, sister Kitty McNamara, USA, and other relatives. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
CARD GAME: The Parents Council of the local National School is holding a fund-raising 41 card game at the Devon Inn on Wednesday June 12 in aid of the Parents Association. It gets underway at 9.00pm and there will be lots of prizes. Cead isteach €5.
CÚRSAÍ EAGLAISE: Masses this week are at the usual times. The anniversary mass for Mai Murphy was celebrated on Sunday last. On Friday evening next the anniversary mass for Colm Leahy will take place, for Patrick, Mary and Mike King on Saturday evening and for Jack Kelly on Sunday next. Beannacht Dé ar anamacha na marbh.
COMHALTAS: The weekly Seisiún show featuring artistes from the local Comhaltas craobh will commence on Thursday, July 4th and will take place at the Devon Inn. The Comhaltas Campa Samhraidh will get underway at Halla Inse Bhán on Monday, July 1st. An appeal is being made to all branches for help with stewarding at Fleadh na Mumhan in UL on July 20 and 21. Anybody who would be willing to help out for a day or half day are asked to contact the local craobh rúnaí, Tadhg (069 84039), as soon as possible. All branches in the county are expected to provide some help.

TRAIL WALK: The 22 mile (36Km) walk along the old railway from Abbeyfeale to Rathkeale takes place on Sat.22nd June (meet at Old Station, Railway Road, Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick at 10:30 a.m.).
