This Friday, April 5 is First Friday, when Communion will be distributed to the sick. If you know of anyone who is sick or housebound who would like to receive communion on Friday, please hand in their names to the sacristy. Devotions to Our Lady of Fatima will take place before the 7pm mass on Saturday. The weekly prayer meeting takes place on Monday at 8pm and all are welcome.

Items for inclusion in the weekly Parish Newsletter should be handed into the sacristy by 9-30am on Friday or contact Fr. Muiris O’Connor on 353711 or 0866075628. Alternatively they can be emailed to muirisoc@eircom.net.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: There will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in Patrickswell Church on Saturdays from 8am until 12noon, and in Ballybrown on Wednesday from 6 to 8pm.

COMMUNITY COUNCIL NEWS: Patrickswell Community Council recently held a fundraising table quiz in the Cứ Chulainn lounge. They would like to thank all those who supported the quiz on the night, including the quiz master PJ O’Grady, and the adjudicator Ann Ronan. The winning team was from Manister with some assistance from Patrickswell personnel. The next fundraiser will be a church gate collection followed by a Donkey Derby to be held on Sunday July 7. Planning has already begun for this, so if anyone is interested in taking a stand or participating in any other way they should contact the Resource Centre on 061-320303. At the last Community Council meeting votes of sympathy were passed to the following; the Conway Family, Crecora Road, on the recent death of Dinny Conway, the Curran Family, Corcamore, on the recent death of John Curran, and Jim Buckley on the recent death of his aunt Josie Curtin, may they rest in peace.

TIDY TOWNS: Our AGM was held recently, which included a brief summary of our activities for the previous year, a report from the chairperson and treasurer, and election of officers. There were no changes to our current set up. Details of our planting schemes were also discussed and arrangements for the Spring Clean Litter Pick.

SCÓR: Congratulations to the dancers who won the Senior Scór Set Dancing County Championships recently. Good luck and all good wishes to them for this Saturday, April 6, when they represent Patrickswell in the Munster Final in Templemore.

SHOOLS QUIZ: Congratulations to the under13 quiz team from St. Nessan’s National School, Mungret, who performed so well to win the recent Chapter Final of the Credit Unions School Quiz. The team of Darragh O’Brien, Jordan Hennessy, Karin Mason & Shane Barry will now represent their school and MPCC Credit Union in the National Final, which takes place in the RDS in Dublin this Sunday, April 7. Over 25,000 school children under the age of 13 began the competition in over 300 venues throughout the 32 counties of Ireland making it one of the most popular and successful promotions undertaken by the credit union movement. Only 400 children, making up 100 teams have made it through to the grand final, therefore it is a great achievement for the team to have made it through to the national final.

FURNITURE REQUIRED: Old and old-fashioned furniture, and old or broken tiles and plates are wanted for a new Newcastlewest based furniture up-cycling and mosaic making training course for people who are unemployed. This training course will train people to restyle old but solid furniture so that it can be re-used. Pick-up of the furniture can be arranged at a cost of €5 per trip, only usable furniture can be taken, and no mattresses or sofas please. BANTRACHT NA TUAITHE: Kilcornan Community Hall is the venue for the Drama Finals between Ballyhahill/Loughill and Cappamore on FridayApril 12 commencing 8.15pm approx. Pallaskenry ICA set dancers will then give a demonstration of their skills. Information on ICA will also be available and the possibility of setting up a new guild in Kilcornan discussed. FASHION SHOW: A Fashion Show in aid of the Limerick Youth Pilgrimage to Lourdes, will take place in Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel on Tuesday, April 16 commencing at 8.00pm. A Cheese and Wine Reception will precede the show, there will be a prize for Best Dressed Woman and Trendiest Man, and also live entertainment at the interval. Your support for the 90 or so young people who volunteer for the Diocesan Pilgrimage would be very much appreciated.

LIAM LAWTON CONCERT: On Sunday April 21 at 8.pm, Caherconlish will have the honour of welcoming Fr.Liam Lawton as he performs in concert in our Lady Mother of the Church, Caherconlish. Fr.Liam will be joined by local adult and youth choirs under the direction of Valerie Walsh. HISTORY: Kenry Historical Society invites you to a tour conducted by Br. John Feheney on Sunday next April 7 at 3pm. Meet at Castletown Church, near Pallaskenry. All welcome.

The Adare History Society is hosting a talk by a local historian on The Curfew in Shantraud in 1921 at the Heritage Centre, rear entrance 8.30 pm on Tuesday April 9.
