RECENT DEATH : The death occurred on Tuesday 26 March at Beech Lodge Nursing Home, Bruree of Kitty Howard Lower Main Street, Kilfinane. Kitty was reposed at McCarthy’s Funeral Home, Kilfinane on Wednesday last March 27th followed by Removal to St. Andrew’s Church where Funeral Prayers were recited on Holy Thursday conducted by Fr.Michael Hanley PP Kilfinane assisted by Fr. John McCarthy SMA Dublin (Kilfinane native and Family friend) followed by burial in the local cemetery (May She Rest in Peace)

KILFINANE COMMUNITY GAMES : The Kilfinane Under 16 Chess Team represented Limerick in the Munster Finals held in Tralee last weekend. They beat Kerry represented by Lixnaw in the semi final. In the final they lost to Clare represented by Shannon and they won the silver medal. Well done to the team Catriona Brazil Carroll, Charley Quinn, Brian O’Keeffe, Danny Moloney, Eoin Fitzgerald, Mikey Duggan and Padraig Weeks. Kilfinane also had success in the county final of the Under 10 Handwriting competition where Mark Duggan came 4th.

KILFINANE COSHLEA HISTORICAL SOCIETY : Kilfinane Coshlea Histotical Society are holding a Lecture and Talk in Ballinvreena Community Hall on this Thursday 4 April.8.30pm.The Lecture will be on Castles and Fortified Houses in the Coshlea and surrounding area. KILFINANE RED CROSS : The Kilfinane Branch of the Red Cross had their Annual General Meeting on Monday 25 March Officers elected as follows : Chairperson: Alice Carroll, Vice Chairperson James O’Connor, Secretary: Carmel O’Connor, Treasurer: Monica Moloney and Asst. Treasurer Marie O’Connor, PRO Bridget Rayn. We are always looking for new members to join and become First Responders and trained to use Defibrillator. It is in the interest of every group in the locality to have a person on their committee who is trained in First Aid and Defibrillator. BLACKROCK CAMOGIE CLUB : Blackrock Camogie Club will be holding a clothing and textiles collection on Saturday 13 April, all donations can be dropped to Terry Lynch’s coal store High Street, from 10 am until 2 pm. Your support would be appreciated.
KILFINANE ATHLETIC CLUB : After a few hectic weeks of races many of our regular race goers were easing off on the race front this weekend with many focusing on Half Marathon and Marathon preparation. We did however have club runners participating in 2 local races which were supporting very worthy charities. Eamon Moloney 10K 30March : Niamh Doody and Patricia Wade represented the club in the EamonMoloney Memorial ten K in Ennis with a big field of 454 runners taking part. Well done to Niamh and Patricia who ran the course together and both posted excellent times on the day with their hard work in training paying off. Patricia Wade completed the course in 52:38 and Niamh Doody in 52:39. All proceeds from this event go to Clare Cancer Support Centre in Kilnamona which is a local and very worthy charity. Tournafulla 5K 31 March : Paul Ryan and Gary Egan made the trip to Tournafulla to test themselves on this challenging course. Both ran PB’s on the day which is testament to their fine form on a hilly course. Gary ran 19:25, with Paul close behind in 20:54. Well done both on great performances and on supporting a great cause in aid of the Limerick Dialysis Unit in Limerick Regional Hospital.

TRAINING :Good to see that those participating in Dromin training under Mike McAuliffes charge have shown significant improvements in their race performances over the last 3 to 4 weeks.Training in Dromin continues each Saturday at 9.30 am.
