Recent Deaths: The death has occurred, following an accident, of Martin Heffernan, Ballinahow, and late of Ballinleenty Tipperary. His remains were removed from Whelan’s Funeral Home, Tipperary last Saturday evening to St. Michael’s Church. Following Requiem Mass on Sunday, burial took place in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Tipperary.He is survived by his brother Timmy, sister Kitty, nephews, nieces, cousins and a large circle of friends.
The death has also occurred in England of Michael Nash, formerly of Shronell Cross. Mass for the repose of his soul was celebrated in Lattin church on last Wednesday evening, May 29. Burial will take place in Suffolk, London on June 3. Sympathy is extended to his wife Theresa, son Michael and daughter Marie, brother Joe, relatives and friends.
Race Night: Cullen-Lattin FC race night will take place on this Saturday night in Limerick Greyhound Stadium. The main race sponsor is Denis Quinlan, Cullen. There are still some tickets remaining for the Buster Draw with a first prize of €1,000.
The ladies soccer team defeated Knocklong by three goals to nil in last Thursday evening’s game in Cullen. The team had fine performances from the Leahy sisters, Cathy Morrissey, Rachel Condon, the O’Brien sisters, Mary Ellen Breen and Margaret Ryan.
Ladies Football: Lattin-Cullen Under 16s travelled to New Inn last bank holiday Monday and defeated Thurles Sarsfields in a Shield C Plate final. Well done to all the girls and to Michael Quirke, Joan O’Donoghue and John Quirke for all the work put into this team. Congratulations to all the girls in the parish who made their First Holy Communion and Confirmation recently. Our Under14s played Oola in a challenge last Monday night. The Junior Ladies defeated Thurles Gaels last Sunday evening in Lattin in a County semi-final. Our opponents in the final will be known this weekend
Our U8 girls played their first match of the year last Friday against Arravale Rovers in Sean Tracy Park. The excitement and anticipation had been building all week and we were not disappointed, as the girls from both sides gave a great display of skills, which was matched only by their sporting behaviour. The Lattin Cullen players were, Caitlin Duddy, Sarah Moloney, Lauren Moloney, Lucy English, Ellen Barlow, Katelyn Heffernan, Aileen O’ Farrell, Aine Carew, Gemma O’ Connell, Katie Delaney, Jane McCormack, Charlotte Browne and Abbie Collins.
