Cappamore Show: Preparations are in full swing ahead of Cappamore Show which takes place on Saturday 17 August. At their last meeting it was revealed that the very prestigious Anglo-Irish YMA Limousin Cattle Finals are to be held at Cappamore Show this year. This raises the Reputation of the Show to a new level as qualifiers will be arriving for this event from England, Scotland, Wales , Northern Ireland as well as the Republic of Ireland. It has now gone truly International. The All-Ireland of the Carriage Driving will also take place .
Confirmation : Next Friday 31st May is Confirmation Day in the parish. His Grace Dr. Dermot Clifford ,Archbishop of Cashel & Emly will confirm over 70 girls and boys from the three primary schools in the parish.
GAA: The GAA grounds are completely closed until further notice. Development work is going ahead and for safety , people are asked not to use the field.
Church Gate Collection: The St Vincent de Paul collection will be held on Saturday/Sunday 1/2 June. Please give generously.

The CDA is very much involved in the following projects which are currently in progress – the building development at the old Boys School into a library, historical & arts centre , which is hoped to be completed by September. – Cameras to be fitted by Limerick County Council at the Bottle Bank location on Moore Street. – Social Housing Project at Old Creamery Site has been granted Planning extension by Limerick Co. Council. – Security Cameras at Community Centre facilities are being upgraded. – In the interest of safety a planned evaluation of parking on one side of Moore st., Main St., and Bridge St. Is being examined. Major landscaping project works at Mullally Lawn, and Grove, Inse Buí and Turagh Crescent will be completed shortly.
Rás Tailteann : There was great anticipation last Tuesday morning week in the village as we awaited the arrival of the Rás Tailteann. At about 12 noon the first 3 riders came through with their entourage of outriders and vans and about 5 mins later the peleton of 170 riders whirred up through the street.They got huge encouragement from the local residents and school children who lined the streets to view it. It was extremely well organised and there was the very minimum of disruption to the community. Waiting outside to cheer the riders on were *1 year old Pat Baragry ,formerly of Oolawho took part in the Rás as a competitor in the early 1950’s and John “Junior” o Donnell, Cappamore who also participated in the Rás in the 90’s.
Sliabh Feilim Singers: The Singers will close their season with a concert in Abington Church on Sunday 9th June at 7.30p.m.The funds collected from “Music for a Summer’s Evening” will be divided between a Charity and the Laggonet Twinning project. Adm €10 . Children are free
Recent Death: The death took place recently in Hants, England of Bridget Smythnee Coleman) in her 90th year, formerly of Cappamore. She is survived by her daughter Pat and grandson Nathan, also her brothers Paddy in St. Michael’s Terrace and Tom in London. Bridget , like many more at that time left these shores in her teens to look for work in London, not knowing what was in store for her. She managed to return to visit Paddy on a few occasions, the last being about 5 years ago. May she rest in peace.
St Michael’s College: The Principal and Board ofr Management of St. Michael’s College, Cappamore would like to invite students, parents and the local community to their closing ceremony on Saturday 1st. June at 7.30p.m. in the Parish Church, with refreshments and Book Launch in the school afterwards.
Towerhill Graveyard Mass: Mass will take place on Wednesday night 12th June at 7.30p.m. in the graveyard(weather permitting)
Bilboa AC: The Ger Mulane Memorial Annual 10 K Road Race will take place on Friday 14th. June at Bilboa. Run Starts at 8.00p.m. SHARP with an uncompetitive Walk at 7.30p.m. Entries at the Clubhouse from 6.30p.m. Entry Fee for Runners -€10 and Walkers- €5. Prizes in all categories plus Spots for walkers and runners. Refreshments will be served on the night.
Mental Health Support: GROW in Ireland( the Organisation which supports Mental Health) is holding an information Morning in the Community Café, Bruff(beside the Catholic Church) on Friday 7th June from 10.00a.m. to 12noon. If you or anyone you care about is suffering from any kind of mental health issue, please come along to the café, have a chat and a cuppa and hear about GROW in your area and how it may be able to support you through its weekly meetings.
