ADARE CAMOGIE: Our U8 Camogie team played their first Blitz of the season in Ahane on Saturday 25 May. Our girls played three excellent games against Ahane, Murroe/Boher and Newport. There were great skills on display and great fun was had by all on a lovely sunny morning. Thank you to Ahane for hosting the blitz, it was very well organised. Our u14 camogie team had a comprehensive win over Bruff last week in the A Plate semi final. The whole team played really well with lots of determination and skill. They now face neighbours Croagh-Kilfinny in the final - good luck to Barbara Parbat/Manager and her team.

ADARE UTD GIRLS UNDER 14 SHIELD FINAL: On 18 May, Adare United’s Ladies U14 team played Askeaton in the U14 Division 1 Shield Final. The match was played in overcast weather punctuated by rain showers which make it very tiring for the players. The match was enjoyed by a large group of spectators from both teams. Askeaton – having won all but one of their ten games during the regular season – provided formidable opposition and played some great football. They took an early lead in the first half before adding a second. An attack, started from their own half by Adare, involving a number of players led to Adare’s only goal scored by Lauren Ryan to bring the score back to 2-1. However, two more goals before half-time left Askeaton leading 4-1 at half time. During the second half, Adare defended doggedly but Askeaton remained dominant, running out deserving winners at full time. Kate O’Farrelly was named Adare’s “Player of the Final”. This was the first year in which Adare Utd fielded an U14 Ladies team and reaching the Shield Final was a great achievement. A special word of thanks to Eoin Ryan (Trainer) who coached the team throughout the season giving willingly of his time for the many training sessions and matches and Eithne O’Riordan (Manager) worked tirelessly organising all the training sessions and matches and kept the parents informed at every turn. The medals will be presented to the squad at the Adare United Awards Night which is due to be held in June. Adare’s Squad : Kerry Fitzgerald, Sive O’Halloran, Maeve O’Halloran, Aisling Smyth, Aoife Molyneaux, Lauren Ryan, Noirin Lenihan, Aoife Hickey, Hazel Alfred, Kate O’Farrelly, Ciara Moroney, Jessie Shire Williams. ADARE GIRLS GAELIC FOOTBALL: On Sunday 19 May, an under-strength Adare U14 team played Murroe-Boher in the “C” Semi Final at Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale. The match was played in close weather which made it very tiring for the players. The match was enjoyed by a large group of spectators from both teams. Murroe-Boher got off to a great start scoring freely throughout the first half. Adare made the most of the opportunities they had but trailed 2-6 to 0-2 at half-time and the game seemed over. Adare’s girls – showing great heart and commitment – picked away at the lead and managed to pull the game back to within two points. With Adare bearing down on Murroe-Boher’s goal again, the referee blew the final whistle. Final score was Murroe-Boher 3-10, Adare 4-5.
