AHANE CAMOGIE CLUB AGM: At the recent Annual General Meeting, the following officers were held for the coming year: Chairperson: Ann-Marie McGill, Vice Chairperson: Alice Reynolds, Secretary: Margaret Hickey, Assistant Secretary: Marguerite McCarthy, Joint Treasurers: Margaret Hickey and Marguerite McCarthy, PRO: Breda Ahern, Registrar: Ber O’Curry and Child Welfare Officer: Toni Macken.
The Club reviewed a very successful season fielding teams at U8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, Junior and Senior. A number of the teams reached finals in their respective age groups. The Club was also honoured to have a number of players playing on County Teams at U12, U14, U16 and Senior Level. Our thanks to all the players, mentors, coaches, parents, local schools and Ahane GAA Club for their help and support over the last year.
Training for the new season — We welcome all players old and new and encourage players to bring a friend. We would love to see new girls join our club and learn a new sport. COMMUNITY GAMES TRAINING: Cross Country Athletics training commences this Saturday, at Ahane GAA Field from 4.00pm to 5.00pm, and will continue every Saturday at this time until county finals in early March. Boys and girls aged 8 to 16. Contact Margot Marsden 331453 for more information.
AHANE GIRLS GAELIC FOOTBALL: Ahane field teams at under-8, under-10, under-12, under-14, under-16, under-18 and junior level. The following are the training times for the new season:
Under 8: Castleconnell Hall: Wednesday nights from 6.45 pm to 7.30 pm
Under 10: Castleconnell Hall: Wednesday nights from 7.45 pm to 8.30 pm
Under 12: will resume on Saturday mornings in February
Under 14 & U16: Ahane GAA Pitch: Saturday’s from 09h45 to 11h00
Under 18 and Junior Level: will resume in February

CARE OF THE AGED: Castleconnell, Ahane, Montpelier Care of the Aged Annual Christmas Party was held in the Castleoaks Hotel Castleconnell, on Sunday, January 13. A hundred and forty five seniors from the Parish plus helpers sat down to a beautiful four-course meal, with excellent service.
Entertainment was provided by a group of ladies who presented very funny comedy sketches, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all. Music and song was the played by Sean Hartigan and Donnie O’Connell which had most seniors waltzing the night away, or just enjoying the singing and the chat.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION ENROLMENT MASS: The enrolment Mass for First Holy Communion children in St. Vincent’s School, Lisnagry takes place on this Thursday, at 11.15am in St. Vincent’s. “Many thanks to the teachers, parents and helpers who devote their time and energy in implementing the programme for First Holy Communion throughout the year.
MONSTER 45 DRIVE: The fundraising for Knockainey National School continues on this Sunday at the Community Centre with a monster 45 Drive. Play commences at 8.30pm and we are hoping for a good turn out. Prizes worth winning will be attainable on the night. For those who are unlucky in play there will be a chance to win prizes in a raffle. At the end of the night there will be an opportunity for tea and talk with friends and neighbours. All proceeds from the night will go towards the school development. Looking forward to seeing you all on the night. Also a draw will take place for those who buy tickets and do not attend.
