St. Patrick’s Day Parades: It was a great weekend for parades on St. Patrick’s day through out the country and Limerick was no exception. Limerick’s St Patrick’s Day Parades Festival 2013 provided great entertainment for the huge crowds who turned out. The weather was very favourable with brilliant sunshine at times so this helped to bring out more than fifty thousand people on to the streets in Limerick. A giant St Patrick led more than four thousand colourful participants in Limerick’s St Patrick’s Day Parade as Grand Marshal. More than two hundred and eighty five locals made their own costumes and dressed as Ireland’s patron saint breaking the world record for the most Saint Patricks gathered in one place. Over a hundred groups took part in the two hour parade. Many marching bands with over a thousand musicians in twenty two international bands took part in the international band championships on Monday in Limerick and this drew great crowds again. Parades were held in many west limerick towns Sunday but Newcastle West held their parade Monday.
