CRECORA-PATRICKSWELL COMMUNITY GAMES: Congratulations to our U11 Tag Rugby squad for an outstanding performance on the pitch this weekend. They victoriously claimed their county title after many nail-biting moments against the very strong and skilled Glin and St Senans teams. Despite the fact that the Crecora/Patrickswell team is a particularly youthful team with the majority of the players aged 9 and even 8yrs, they put their many hours of training to good use and are now looking forward to competing in Munster finals on Easter Saturday in Tralee. Many thanks to Jason Nash, Colm O Byrne and Chris Mulqueen for all their hard work with the squad and best of luck to all our young players in 2 weeks’ time. The panel in full is: Rian O Byrne, Brandon Nash, Ciara Mulqueen, Sam Riordan, Muireann Leahy, Evan Munnelly, Caragh Munnelly, Conor Hannon, Aoife Gilmartin, Ciaran Foster, Oisin Portley.
Our U14 tag rugby team was also in action last Saturday in the closing rounds of the competition. First up we played Glin in the semi. We were slow to get into the game and found ourselves behind early on and Glin built up a strong lead by half-time. In the second half, our lads performed much better and had the better of the second half but were unable to close the gap on Glin, who went forward to the final. We followed up with the 3rd place playoff which was against Ballybrown. We picked up where we left off in the first game and this time we built up the early lead and maintained that lead to the final whistle. It was a very enjoyable tournament and well done to all our players: Emer Kennedy, Susan O’Neill, Maeve Cooke, Neil Heffernan, James O’Donovan, Donnacha Connolly, Jordan Nash, Shane O’Connor, Barry Moore, Rory Hannon.
CRECORA CAMOGIE CLUB: is delighted to congratulate seven of their young players who earned precious All-Ireland medals when playing with their school team, Laurel Hill last weekend. Our girls on the panel were: Aislinn Condon, Aisling & Aoife Coughlan, Dearbhla Egan, Roisin Howard, Orla Ryan and Caoimhe Sheehan. Well done to you all.
