COMMUNITY WORKSHOP: A Community Workshop will take place tomorrow night March 21 in the Community Centre commencing at 8pm. A discussion and exchange of ideas as how best to proceed for the benefit of the parish will be part of the agenda and it is hoped that there will be a good turnout of people interested in raising the positive profile of our parish to new heights.
HISTORICAL SOCIETY: Tarbert Historical and Heritage Society will hold their monthly meeting next Saturday night March 23 in the Bridewell at 8:30pm. Patrick Lynch will give a talk on the tithe war of 1800s.
DANCE: Dance the winter blues away at Tarbert Community Centre next Sunday March 24, from 3 to 5:30pm to the music of Big Maggie and Big Ivan. Admission €5 and refreshments served.
THANK YOU: The committee of the North Kerry Pioneers would like to sincerely thank everyone who attended the social last Friday night. A fantastic night was had by all with a beautiful meal at the Golf Hotel and wonderful music by Mike Condon. Congratulations to Kathleen Mc Enery, Nora Mc Cann, Sheila Healy, Mary Lowe, John & Anne Slattery, Seamus Mc Enery, Margaret O Connor, Mary Langan, Eddie Joe Mc Elligott, Mary Mc Elligott and Patrick B Mc Elligott who all received a gold pin for 50 years membership of the association.
COLLECTION: The Tarbert and Ballylongford Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann will hold their Annual church gate collection on Saturday and Sunday of March 30-31.
WELL DONE: Tarbert had an excellent display of talent at the recent Scor na bPaisti North Kerry Finals Held in the Tintan Theare.Tarbert took part in five of the eight competitions. First up on stage for Tarbert was Johannah Kiely who gave a wonderful performance in the solo singing competition, singing the ‘Hills of Kerry’ accompanied by her father Christopher playing the fiddle. Next up was the Instrumental competition and was again well represented by the newly formed ballad group Coached by Katie Lucy. The band gave a wonderful display of instruments and talent playing O’ Mahoney’s Jig and Miss Monahan’s reel with Aine Enright on the Harp and concertina, Brian Cregan playing the mandolin, Conor Heaphy playing the fiddle, Gillian Musgrave on the side flute and Adam O’Mahoney playing the Banjo. Five beautiful young female singers took to the stage for the Ballad Group Competition and again gave a wonderful performance singing Neidin and Blath Na Bó were Aine Enright Singing and playing the Harp, Sasha Godley, Singing and playing the tin whistle, Katlyn O’Mahoney and Sophie O’Sullivan Singing and Tara O’Sullivan singing and playing the Guitar coached by Meabh Lawlee and Helen Enright. Unfortunately none of the above competitors were the Judges choice on the day but all came third with wonderful comments and encouragement from the judges.
GAA LOTTO: There was no winner of last week’s lotto draw. The numbers drawn were; 10, 11, 21, and 24. Bar Prize winner Jerry Savage. The Lucky Dip winners were; Kevin Enright, Joe O’Connor, Tom Enright, Stella Enright and John Higgins. Next week’s draw will take place in the Anchor Bar with a jackpot of €1,500 next Saturday night. Thanks to all those who continue to support the Lotto. Yearly tickets are now available from all committee members.
MATCH RESULT: Tarbert Seniors were defeated by Brosna in Shannon Park last Sunday on a scoreline of 0-5 to 0-8 in the North Kerry League.
County League commences this weekend where Tarbert take on St. Pat’s Blennerville in Shannon Park Saturday at 4pm.
UNDERAGE: Moyvane/Tarbert, were defeated by Kenmare last Saturday evening in Kenmare on a scoreline of 1-5 to 3-11. Next game is not until April 5, 2013. Moyvane/Tarbert U-16 team play St Senans in Mountcoal next Monday evening.
CLUB MEMBERSHIP: Players and members are reminded that closing date for membership is the end of March. Players cost €50 while ordinary members cost €25, subscriptions to be forwarded to Club Register Donnacha Enright.
