Cappamore Community Games: Draughts: Our U10 team are busy practising for their upcoming tournament. Adam Coleman, Jack Laffan, Johnny Meehan, Shane Fleming(captain), Brendan Reynolds, Tommy Meehan, & Robyn Duggan. Manager; Brendan Laffan.
Unfortunately this year we only had 3 children from the entire parish for the U12 team, hence they were unable to go forward. Perhaps parents will consider draughts next year as an activity for their children to learn & enjoy. Young or old, rich or poor, everyone can appreciate a good game of draughts. It not only promotes good mental health, social and strategy skills but also gives a break from the digital, hi-tech gadgets that children currently busy themselves with.

CDA Meeting: Cappamore Development Association’s first meeting of 2014 was held in the Community Centre last week. Those in attendance were pleased to see a framed certificate on display. This award is in recognition of Cappamore’s participation in the Gathering 2013.
It was announced at the meeting that the construction of a big extension to the old Boys’ School, which will incorporate a new Library, Arts and Heritage Centre is now nearing completion. It is expected that this state of the art building will be opened in March.
The meeting was also informed that the Community Centre is undergoing a face lift with the entire building being painted internally. The external walls were painted last year. Further improvements are planned for Cappamore, which will include extra lighting in Turagh and the provision of pedestrian crossings in appropriate locations in the village.
Following a number of recent break-ins to residential and business premises in the Cappamore area and surrounding parishes people are advised to be more vigilant in their community of any suspicious activity, which should be reported to the Gardaí immediately. The distribution of stickers this week to houses throughout the parish listing local emergency numbers as well as the ongoing provision of household alarms to the over 65’s who are eligible is much appreciated. Our thanks to Cappamore Community Alert.
Congratulations: We congratulate Sr. Teresa in the Convent of Mercy who celebrated her 99th birthday last Saturday. She was born on 01- 02- 1915
