MURROE/BOHER GAA LOTTO DRAW: The Valley Inn hosted the first Murroe/Boher lotto draw last week. The numbers drawn were 3, 12, 13, and 15 and there was no winner. Lucky dips were won by Richard J Keays and Rachel Hogan. The next draw is in Hanly’s of Boher; Weekly tickets are available from all pubs and shops in the area or any committee member. . Lotto tickets cost only €2-00 or €20-00 for the lot.
SENIOR SCÓR: The Senior Scór final will be held in Cappamore Community Centre on Friday March 7, at 7.45 p.m. There will be no divisional finals. Entries need to be submitted to the county board by Sunday. March 2. If you are interested in taking part on behalf of Murroe/ Boher, please contact the Irish officer on 086 8944797. Competitions include Céilí Dancing, solo singing, recitation, ballad group, question time, novelty act and instrumental music. The Munster semi final involving Luimneach, Tiobrad Árainn, Corcaigh agus Ciarraí (An Clár agus Port Láirge have a bye to the final as we had last year), will be held also in An Cheapach Mhór on Saturday, March 22. As part of Limerick G.A.A’s contribution to the City of Culture, the Munster final of Senior Scór will be held in the Concert Hall, University of Limerick, on Sunday, March 30, at 2 3 0p.m.
GAA IRISH COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP: Application forms are available for GAA Irish College scholarships from Murroe/Boher club’s Irish officer at 086 8944797. The application must be submitted to the county divisional secretary no later than Friday, February 28 and are confined to Corca Dhuibhne (Ciarraí), Béal Átha an Ghaorthaigh (Corcaigh), and An Roinn (Port Láirge).Applications are open to all second level students who are registered with Murroe/Boher GAA club.
45 DRIVE RESULTS: The winners of last week’s 45 Drive were: First prize went to Seamus Reynolds & partner. Second prize went to Joe Carroll & Trish and Paddy Rainsford & Tom O’Malley. Third prize went to John Lynch & partner and Eamonn Cooke & Kathleen Costelloe and John & Dan Shanahan and Richie O’Brien & Willie Ryan and Noel Foley & Maureen Collins. Table prizes were won by Kathleen Boyle & Peggy Fitzgerald and Patsy Laffan & Pat O’Connor.
COMMUNITY MONDAY EVENING WALK: A community Monday evening walk starts every Monday evening at 8 o’ clock sharp from Croker’s car park. All, male or female, young and not so young are invited to take part and join with your friends and neighbours on a walk through Glenstal grounds, to the back gate and back. The distance is approximately 3 miles. Bring hi-vis jacket and a flash light (if you have them). It is hoped that this initiative will be sociable and fun while promoting good health and well being and we hope to see you there.
CHURCH NEWS: The recent collection for the homeless realised a total of €604-00. With Candlemass day last weekend, donations for candles will be gratefully accepted. The Cashel and Emly Lourdes Fundraising draw will take place on March 8, 2014 and there is over €4,000 in cash prizes. There are also two draws for trips for two to Lourdes. Tickets are available from Liz Barron at a cost of €20-00. The Murroe/Boher Parish financial statement is now available at church porches.
PIONEER DINNER DANCE: This year’s Pioneer Dinner Dance will take place on Friday, February 14 at the Millennium Centre, Caherconlish starting with mass in Caherconlish church at 8 pm. The meal will be at 9 pm followed by dancing to Dermot Lyons. Tickets at a cost of €25 are available from Liz Barron.

SPRING DRAMA: Newport Drama presents a comedy by Jimmy Keary in Newport Community Centre on February 14, 15 16, 22 and 23 at 8-30 pm. It is entitled ‘A Friend in Need’ and will make for great entertainment.
