MINOR HURLERS WIN COUNTY TITLE : It was lat late show on Saturday last November 23, when Sean Og Hanley’s minor hurlers played West Champions Tournafulla in the County Minor ‘B’ Hurling Championship final in Ballyagran.
Our boys were crowned champions after they scored a late goal to snatch the victory in the fifth minute of injury time to win by 2-09 to 0-14. in a game that was very close all through.
On the 60th minute the sides were level with many looking at their watches, but the game went on for another five minutes, where Tournafulla added a point from a free, both sides hit wides before the West Champions seem to seal the victory with a well taken point from play.
However there was one final twist in the game, from the resulting puck out, Dylan Dawson for Sean Og Hanley’s won the ball at midfield, sent into the forward line and Donnacha Leahy was on hand to send it to the net for his second goal and more important to give Sean Og Hanley’s a one point lead as the full time whistle sounded much to joy of all involved with the winning team.
The winners were first out of the blocks and a goal from Donnacha Leahy had them on the way. The sides were level on two occasions in the opening half and Sean Ogs led at the interval 1-05 to 0-06. the points coming from Dean Brazill (3) two from frees Dylan (1) free and Brian O’Connell.
The second half was very evenly contested and the sides were level on three occasions up to the 60th minute and the rest is history.
The second half points for Sean Og Hanley’s were, Dylan Dawson (2) frees, Darren McCarthy (1) and Shane Lyons (1) with the golden goal from Donnacha Leahy.
There was great scenes of jubilation in the Sean Og Hanley’s camp as the final whistle sounded and full credit to all players who played on Saturday, they never gave up and were rewarded at the end. Credit too to the team management who guided the team to the county title.
The team was Adrian O’Sullivan, Sean O’Sullivan (Captain), Josh Watson, Joe Joe Brazill, Ed Valatha, Dylan Dawson (0.03f), Shane Lyons (0.01), Paudie Lawlor, Dean Brazill,(0.03 2f), Tom O’Dwyer, Adrian Cooke, Ben Soundy, Donnacha Leahy (2.00 ), Brian O’Connell (0.01), Darren McCarthy (0.01).

GLENROE LADIES CLUB: Glenroe Ladies Club will be holding the Glenroe/Ballyorgan Seniors Christmas Lunch in Deebert House on Sunday December 1.
GLENROE/BALLYORGAN ACTIVE GROUP: The recent tour to Cork went extremely well, we also had a full bus and we had the sun on our backs leaving Glenroe and Ballyorgan which we are thankful to God for.
We had a wonderful reception at the Cork City Gaol with buttered Barm Brack, biscuits, lashings of tea and coffee and a well guided tour of the Gaol.
We were left with memories of difficult times in our past history and even though we are going through recessionary times in Ireland we have nothing to compare with those times.
We left for U.C.C. where we were treated with a great welcome and history of its humble beginnings to the huge campus we have today.
The highlight of our visit was the Honan Chapel and its history. We moved on to Blarney where we whetted our thirst and hunger and a browse through the Woollen Mills. On our way home we had dinner at Springfort Hall and everyone enjoyed the beautiful dinner and a chance to unwind and chat.
It was a busy but extremely enjoyable day out and thanks to everyone who helped to make our day such a success. We have our Christmas get together on Tuesday 17 December where we hope to have all our supporters to finish 2013 and look forward to the New Year ahead.
